Is anyone else having these issues.
1) when shifting into first gear it likes to notch over to 3rd instead.

2) Here is a bigger concern for me. When engaging revers both the camera and revers lights go on but the gear is not engaged. I have to move it back to neutral release the clutch and start over.

Also another question are all gears 1 to 6 synced or only 2 to 6?

I only drove one manual several months back before I bought mine but from memory the shift gates are very close and the throw is very short making it pretty easy to pick the wrong gear while you are getting familiar with the shifter. On the reverse (at least on the one I drove) the camera and light would engage when the shifter hit the opening of the reverse gate. That being said, it *might* be possible to engage the light and camera and not be able to put it in gear *if* you don't have the reverse lockout button pulled up that opens the reverse gate.

All gears should be synchronized. I have read several posts both here and the other Veloster forum describing the tranny as very notchy (especially through the lower gears) for the first 1,000 miles or so during break-in.

The only shifting problems I've had is accidentally going into 1st when going for Reverse from time to time. Now I've gotten into the habit of pushing a bit harder to the left and giving the stick a little wiggle front to back to make sure I'm all the way left before pushing up to Reverse. Works every time that way.

I dont think 1st gear is synchronized... the first tranny in my car would not go into first unless i was totally stopped... but that trans.had issues... so this new one they put in still won't go into first unless I'm almost stopped...or double clutch into first... it should say in the owners manual.

Every M/T that i have ever owned has been that way. How is the new tranny btw?

I've experienced the short shifter blues on the VT fairly often. The shift gate on the VT M/T seems pretty straightforward but it lacks the spring and detent of a BMW or VW/Audi.

Reverse can occasionally be challenging but lifting the reverse release on the shifter and waiting for the beep works for me.

There is definitely an issue with selecting 1st or 3rd though. I've driven a lot of M/T cars over the last 30 years and the VT is the only one I have this problem with - that didn't have a slopped out shift mechanism.

Here is what happens to me at least once a week. I think I put it in to 1st but I put it into 3rd. The clutch lets out a lot farther in 3rd so I figure it out pretty quickly and shift from 3rd to 1st. But I don't feel any difference when I shift again.

I've never owned a car that synched first and reverse, and the VT is no different. All gears should not have synchros on both sides. Reverse should not have synchros and 1st should only have a synchro next to 2nd.
