-well, 1 year since I got my NAV in June 2012 which I traded for my Turbo on Sept 1. It's a crummy little cardboard "air-freshener" on a string that smells like a bar of cheap soap with an out-of-focus pic of a Vit-C NAV. Must have set Hyundai back about 1/2 cent. The envelope it came in probably cost at least a quarter to produce and another quarter to mail. Anyway I should get my Turbo anniversary gift in September. I'll post again to let everyone know if it's something that actually qualifies as a gift -and that doesn't stink. Huge Fail Hyundai. H U G E

You really got to wonder where they find the people that dream up these ideas. We used to call them unemployable. If they just sent a letter thanking you for your business and making note that it has been a year, that would be a nice gesture, but oh no, they have to up the ante and include a retarded gift that just undoes all of the goodwill done by the letter and opens them for ridicule. Lame.

I agree that it would probably be better just to send a Thank You note rather than a cheesy gift. On the other hand, I've never ever gotten any type of gift from any other auto manufacturor for my purchase. So I'll look at it as "it's the thought that counts", even though executed poorly.

Although it may be in poor form to complain about a gift, it is still cheap, and ridiculous. I don't know of anyone who uses those in their cars anymore. They remind me of the 80's. A nice pen, or coffee mug would be more useful and visible. After all, they want us to show the world we drive a Hyundai....right?

I'm not going to debate it with you, but I will remind you that Hyundai is an international corporation, selling cars all over the world. That being said there are very few things that many inhabitants of the world need more than an air freshener (unless it is maybe soap), so a soapy smelling air freshener may be the best of both worlds.

We had a bonus program at work above and beyond normal commissions/salary, etc. So the first time it happened I saved that money all year and bought every person in our store 9about 25 people) a gift, based on how long they had been there. Under a year got X and over a year got Y except for the women and they got Z. The low end was about $35 each and the high end about $80 each. Few people said thank you, then the complaining started from the under 1 year folks because someone else got a nicer gift.Needless to say nobody ever got anything ever again. Since then I have given the money to my wife and children for Christmas and they appreciate it.

There was recently a thread on Hyundai Think Tank asking about this sort of thing, specifically welcome packets. They seemed receptive to my idea of exclusive keychain designs for model years, or along those lines. People also suggested a gift card for service/parts/accessories would be a nice gesture as well. Overall the conversation was to move toward useful items and not cheap/cheesy promos.

It's nothing personal with you bgenlvtex, so my apologies if you took it that way. If Hyundai is such an international company, and again I am not saying that it is not since they do sell all over the world, it should be more attune to the different customs of the countries they sell their products. What is a good "gift" to us, may not be good to others around the world, and I get that. But we are talking about us here in the good old U.S.A.

And BTW, what you did at work it was very nice of you, but I am sure you learned that not everyone thinks the way you do. You did the right thing by keeping the money for your family.

This is my at least my 7th new vehicle and the 1st manufacturer that has sent me anything other than something that would benefit them such as extended warranty info. While I won't use it and it may be a waste of money, the gesture is appreciated. My daughter thinks it's cool and hung it on her Powerwheels...

Agreed, I have never received any "gifts" after a year of ownership from any automanufacuturer.
