Im looking to lease my VT and i was wondering if thrs anyone that is leasing and is willing to tell me how much your paying. Thanks
Hello, I leased my VT. If I don't count my down payment, the monthly payments come out to $381 including tax. This is with zero down for 36 months, over 720 on my credit score. Then if you put a down payment, it will come down about $30 dollars for each 1000 of down you put. This was for a VT A/T, tech package.

I kinda wished I had pushed more for a lease now. The dealer was reluctant to offer me a lease because mine was a special order and my credit is only average.

If I paid $400 a month for 3 years - not counting down payment and assuming it is in excellent condition and is under the mileage - I would still probably be upside down by several thousand dollars.

My plan now is to have it nearly paid off in 3 years to get out from under the interest load. If I'm ready for a new car I will have a significant amount of cash from selling it and if I don't I'll be done with payments and have lots of warranty left.

i cant remember all the figures that i brought in anymore but i brought the following

money factor (cant remember what it was)
36 months term
residual 62%

we haggled on the MSRP of the car. everytime they brought a lower MSRP, i did all my calculations and their monthlies were always higher. i just gave them my numbers and said thats all id do when we reached the correct msrp. finance guy came out, asked to see my calculations, said it looked good and ok'd it.

The residual value seems like a crap shoot to me - and to my dealer finance guy too. 62% is a reasonable estimate, but does your lease have a balloon based on the residual?

If Hyundai keeps the Veloster on the fringe and keeps producing small numbers of the turbo and the 2016 turbo is still essentially the 2013 turbo than 62% is conservative.

If Hyundai brings the Veloster forward as their halo car and produces significant upgrades to the turbo each model year and whittles down the MSRP 62% is too high. If a 2016 VT has 250hp and the base model costs $20k than a used 2013 VT might have under 50% residual value.

Just for fun I looked at a 2013 Mustang and Camaro too and to give you an idea of their residual value the websites don't offer a lease at all and the dealers looked at me funny when I asked about a lease and residual value.

I leased mine. Im 27, first time having a car under my name. Gave $1500 down...pay $353 a month for a 48 month term. That's with tax already included. My beacon score is 710. Every $500 down is $10 less and every $1000 down is $20 less.

Read the fine print in your lease. Residual value is often an estimate. Hyundai is better than most car companies as they kinda guarantee resale value - which is essentially residual value.

After doing the math the VT is still a great lease deal and I'm reconsidering my decision to just finance it.

I'm so happy with mine so far that I plan to have it for 5 or more years and still have some value left in it.

i have leased 2 of my last 5 cars. Let me make this suggestion to you. Finance rates for new cars are at a all time low. So leasing makes no sense unless you were leasing a high end luxury car. Finance the car.Honestly you may spend an extra 30-40 a month but you don't have to worry about damage or how many miles you are going to put on the car. If you keep it for 2 years and sell it before the next model year drops you will likely be able to walk away dead even w/o all the lease return drama. I have done this 2x w/ two vehicles. 2006.5 MKV gti & 2008 nissan 350z. Walked away both times after two years into a 60 mo. loan and didn't carry over a dime. I will say, i have excellent credit and made nominal down payments ( i think about 1000 each time). Ask anyone who has returned a loan vehicle, unless you are purchasing a new vehicle from that dealer the will hold your a$$ to the fire for wear, tear, mileage etc.

Just got mine yesterday. Leased for 48 months, $695 out of pocket covering first months payment, tax, and title, $299 a month. They wanted $339, but I haggled a bit. Very happy. Oh, its a 2013 Tubo AT. Sticker was $23,500.
