misnblu, why not do a NA build vs a swap? You could likely make the same or more power for the same or less $ and hastle. Just a thought.....

Well for the couple of days I had off while changing trucking carriers I got a couple of items in for the build.
First is the 3" shifter extension which I figured I'd try out to see how I like it.
It's a Torque Solution piece and once installed completely changed the feel of the shifter for the better.
It's buttery smooth now and there's no effort to put it in any gear now. So smooth. 馃槏

I also got my Chase Bays coolant overflow tank in and like the smaller size it has over the OEM unit. This will be installed next time I'm home with some time. 馃憤

Finalky got the Canton Racing Accusump 1 qt pre-Oiler in as well and completes all the parts I need to finish up my oiling setup with the cooler, sandwich plate, and Accusump.
This unit is bigger than I thought but still believe I can have it in the engine bay or around the perimeter of the bay. I won't know until I pull the bumper and get things going.

It also looks like I won't be able to install my KDMTUNERS oil pan as the turbo pan has an enlarged sump offset that the n/a doesn't have. 馃様 Sometimes I get over excited on things and later when I dig deeper I realize there is a difference that I overlooked.
I was looking forward to the installation of the pan too.

Spending is on hold again as I need to knock out quite a few things on the car before I progress onto other things.
I still need all my rotors for the brake system and some new rear hubs to complete my brakes and axle swap.

So much to do and so little time. 馃ゴ

I haven't pulled the pan off the Accent to see but both the turbo an n/a use the same screen gasket so who knows.
Once I get under the car next time I'm home I'll make sure of the fit.
pretty simple actually. The n/a pan is pretty much square while the turbo pan has an extension for more oil in the sump.

I won't be discouraged though. 馃憤

Just a little update to the car as it's been awhile.
Nothing major but every little project completion is a step closer to the finished product.
Made my first stainless braided line for the car and it came out pretty good. I found that using a dremmel cutting wheel does a nice job of cutting the braided line for the connections. 馃憤

Next I installed the Chase Bays coolant overflow tank and routed any overflow down to the ground via a 5/16 brake line I bent for better direction and it looks cool as well. 馃槀

Last I finally installed my Holley programmable shift light for the car.
I hardwired the cable into the back of the OBD2 connector so I wouldn't have to run a splitter for the light and obd scanner.
Everything was soldered and taped as I want no issues down the road.

It's amazing how tedious the work is get it right and how much time it takes. 8 hours today doing just these 3 things. 馃ゴ
Back at it tomorrow and really not sure what I'll tackle as of yet. So much to do in so little time. 馃ズ馃槱

Does the Chase Bays coolant overflow tank replace the factory one?
Yes and that was my intention as was to relocate the tank for better access.
I still haven't removed the factory tank yet since I'll need to pull the bumper and see how it removes.
With the Chase Bay tank if it does overheat the coolant is redirected to the ground instead of coming through the cap and all over the engine compartment.
That was the main feature I liked about it and it's well built too. 馃憤

On the VT I couldn鈥檛 believe the coolant overflow was a 90 degree rubber elbow that dumped the coolant all over the lower strut tower and frame rail. In the engine bay. Wtf Hyundai.

Well I came across a good deal for a transmission for my swap. 馃檶
I did a VIN check on it and it's the 6 speed manual from a 2016 VT R-Spec Rally edition and has only 24,000 miles on the tranny. 馃槼馃槣
That's less miles than I have on the car now. 馃槀馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔
It looks like new and I'll have it at the house by next Monday.
$600 shipped and I talked him down from $700.
Here's a pic or two.

I'm pretty happy at the moment. 馃槣
I also got my full VT service manual in pdf so I can start looking at the wiring changes needed for the swap and to help with building the motor once it's purchased.
It's been a good day and my wallet is a little skinnier. 馃槈

Well my first big purchase is done and after watching KDMTUNERS video on the install of the Quaiffe lsd I bought one for the build.
Id already ordered all the axle seals and various nuts, flange, and bolts to make sure it'll mate to the engine a few days ago.
I've already sourced the Timken bearings as well and this should be an excellent lsd to get what I'm looking for as far as getting the power down for street and track use. 馃槏

Drive shafts will be next in the list and I've still got to get under the car for some measurements so I can get a price on some custom shafts from the Driveshaft Shop.

I still need to source a motor but I'm not sure how a I'll be able to get it delivered to the house and into my storage unit a few miles away. 馃え馃
Weights going to be the biggest issue. 馃槱
Any suggestions from anyone that's ordered a used engine? 馃槈
I'll be home in a couple of days to play mechanic again and can't wait. 馃槀馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔忦煈

So was the lockout adapter and spring useful?

Feeling a bit envious right now. Agree with the engine hoist and truck rental. FedEx delivered mine and pulled it into my garage for me with a pallet jack. As for the axle measurements, you'll need to install the transaxle before you can take them, or just use mine. Don't forget you'll also need the passenger side intermediate shaft.

I'm not sure what you're meaning here? 馃

Yeah that's what I figured. I plan on getting an engine hoist and motor stand in the very near future. 馃憤

I'm confused with what you're saying here.
I would think that I'd need to measure the axles I already have on the Accent as the Veloster axles are longer.
I haven't dug deep into this yet so I'm not sure what all has to be measured or how to go about it. It's something I'll have to work on next time I'm on the road.
@Fst-FTR Please DM me if you've got some information on this since you've been there already. 馃檹馃徑馃憤
Oh and don't be envious at all. I've been wanting this since I had my Z drag car which was an auto and they made the Quaiffe for the manual version for the Z.
I had everything I needed for the tranny swap for the Z but didn't make the money I'm now making so I had to stick with what I had. 馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔忦煒

Now that I'm making good money (finally) I can do the build I've always wanted and build a car that will please my sleeper mentality. 馃槇

You need to measure from the seal surface on the trans to the inner hub on the DS, and from the tip of the intermediate shaft to the hub on the PS. DSS has the info on their site. I'll send you my invoice with the fabricated dimensions.

Sorry. I guess it wasn't you who I sent a prototype adapter for the Manuel Shiftier so you can use JDM style reverse lockout.

Nope. Not me. 馃榿
I'm actually pretty happy with my shifter setup and the way I got it to work.
But thank you sir anyway. 馃憣馃憤

More progress made while home on the car and I'll try to keep it short. 馃槣

After much trying to find a way to go through the firewall without going through the main wiring harness gasket I could not find 1 place to drill a hole.
So I'm relinquished to go old school and run the wires through the gasket. Not what I wanted but it works.

I finally got my main power wire through and hooked up my BlueSea marine distribution block in a great location. Now I'm ready for gauges to be wired and switches. 馃檶
127F2DFB-9A16-46CF-9DD2-CFCDAB3C4163.jpeg

I mounted a second fire extinguisher in the car and was inspired by Rennline products and their front seat mounts for Porsche's.
Midd Town Company makes a nice mount which I bought similar to the Rennline and worked perfectly. They're universal so pretty much guaranteed to fit and even though you'd think my feet would be hitting the extinguisher or in the way, it's not.

Git my ECU in but didn't have time to hook it up to see if the engine runs with it in place of the Accent ECU. I'll do that next time as I'm rewriting my main power system for the engine kill switch.
A0FBD5C5-AB3E-4CEF-9279-A056A519607A.jpeg

Speaking of kill switch the Flaming River kill switch fit perfectly and works great.
I used a stainless Fender washer and modified it to work in supporting the switch to the bumper nice and snug.
I also had to install a Bussman high current fuse bock for the main power wire to make the NHRA/ IHRA and SCCA techs happy. 馃槀
I did the same for the alternator cabling but didn't have the time to rework the wiring and get the alternator worked into the switch.

I had to figure out the unusual wiring of the Hyundai way of doing things but it worked out great. All wires crimped, soldered, and heat shrunk with dual wall heat shrink.
6178B38D-5E46-461E-A8C8-D025DAED519A.jpeg 5B4E7353-DA45-4AFF-8FC3-73B948B22046.jpeg 96472152-D92E-409E-BC33-CE3A25909527.jpeg 6ED919E4-A892-4165-B836-43EADA19DE83.jpeg 086F656C-A1E6-4AF8-BE22-D963CD552011.jpeg

For now the switch kills all power when off as long as the engine isn't running.
Now I don't have to constantly pull a battery cable when I leave for a month to drive.
It also offers a nice anti-theft setup since nobody can drive the car without power or a steering wheel. 馃槀馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔
I will do the alternator side next time I'm home so when the engine is running the kill switch kills ALL power to the car as needed by the sanctioning bodies to be legal.

So little time and so much to do but the final product will be worth it. 馃榿
