If you just remove the muffler, your car will sound raspy as hell.
No. I will sound pretty good at idle but like $hit when accelerating.
I originally had the a 11224 magnaflow muffler in the back and no resonator, and it wasnt loud enough. I then purchased the 10426 magnaflow resonator and replaced it with the missing one i didnt have (which cost me around $80 from amazon), and then i removed the muffler as well. A shop in santa ana charged me $80 for everything, but that is because I already had an aftermarket muffler installed before that so the piping was a bit easier to work with. But it shouldnt cost you more than $100 to get all this done, plus the $80 from the resonator purchase. So total you are looking close to $200? Maybe less..
Ok for the love of God I can't seem to get this figured out so if you could help I would really appreciate it. Ok I read every "Exhaust" post and comment and listened to every "Sound clip" on earth and this is what I did. I did the Muffler delete and swapped the stock resonater for the 6"X18" magnaflow resonater and I'm using the stock tips. I really thought I was finally getting what I wanted but I was way way wrong and now I'm kicking myself in the Ass. Here's the problem, I love the good throaty sound at Boost but the litteral "Drone" and cruising speed is horrible. I absolutely hate it. If I wasn't such a dumbass by throwing my stock muffler in the trash before coming to this conclusion I would put it back on. So can ANYONE Please tell me what I can do to quiet this thing down and eliminate the drone. Funny how all these people posted how this exact system was sooooooo wonderful cause it had NO drone but that's all it does unless your on the pedal hard. So is there a good muffler I can have installed or any other option for actually getting what I'm after which was a good "sound" of some kind but NO DRONE or Rice rocket [email protected]# sound. Please help Anybody !!!!
That's surprising I have this setup and I love it. No drone or anything.
Ya it's strange. It has a slight "Honda rice rocket" sound at a certain rpm then a dreadful Drone at another. The only time it ever sounds good is at boost. It is horrible. Took it back 2 times to installer to have it Checked out for leaks or whatever and Nothing. Guy tells me that's exactly the sounds I'm going to get without some type of "Muffler" ????
Ya I completely expected it to be "louder" without a doubt but I'm telling you it "drones". Low RPM cruising and mellow throttle and it sounds like one of your kids has one rear window down at 40mph. I can't stand it. It's like you litteraly have to stop your conversation with someone until u get out of that rpm. Sounds like a friggin empty bread box. Is there a muffler that will just go into place somewhere else in the system ? There is no way I'm going to continue driving it like this. I commute 130 miles a day and enough is enough for this guy.
Sorry you've had such a bad time. I used a magnaflow 4"X18" P/N 10426, and don't have that problem, in fact at highway speed the road noise is all hear.
