My VT just put up a P0441

hey guys

My VT just put up a P0441 code this morning......OBD-II Trouble Code: P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

Car just had its 12000km check up (which may be unrelated)

Any ideas what to look for, or should I just take it in? If its a quick fix id rather just do it myself then spend one of my rare days off sitting at Hyundai

I heard others with P0441 saying that it was the purge solenoid stuck. They may try adding lube, but I would insist on a replacement.

Same code that mine through about a week ago. Mingo85 also has the same code. Its the purge valve, probably sticking open or closed. The car drives just fine and the cel went off the other day, so I might have fixed itself for now. Mine is still being replaced this week.

Funny, we all live in southern Ontario, so Im wondering if it weather related.

yeah it makes me wonder for sure... car is now in the garage

when i ran it with my code reader, it wouldnt let me reset it. Other cars i have had it does it no problem.

So maybe it will turn itself off? Either way i suppose it should go in for replacement

Well, assuming it is the purge valve, is there anyway to manually open it myself?

No idea sorry. I didnt even ask where it was or what it looked like. Im assuming the cel cant be reset because the purge valve is part of the emission system Im told.

I would assume that it should be resetable .. after all if it's a real issue it'll back back on soon enough. Other CEL's can be reset.

well i would insist going to the dealer to test it, but if you want to do it your self take the purge valve off and try breathing through it, if you can suck in or breathe out than its failed. if you apply 12 volts to the connector and ground out the other pin (either one is fine)you should hear it click and than you can breathe through it.

Could I be having the issue with my ride even though I've replaced CAI and FMIC?
I'm only asking bc my cel keeps stuck on, even after I reset the car by unplugging the battery for 30mins.

well don't you have turbosocks fmic? what springs do you have it the bov? I remember reading about the different spring combination to delete the cel.

Well the car goes in at 2:30pm today. I will keep everyone updated on how it goes

Got the car back already.... It was indeed the purge valve......replaced under warranty

allllll good now

wtf is a purge valve? lol, is that like a new form of PCV valve?

I do, and yes, supposedly if you remove a spring it won't trip the cel. But Boostin has the same setup (turbososcks) and he's never tripped a cel.

Interesting. there is a thread in which boostin said something along the lines of "have turbosocks set up and I don't get a cel"

It has been the weather.. Once the weather is warmed up, with both springs, there shouldn't be a CEL. Was the same with the forge. In the warm weather, NEVER popped a CEL, even with the heavier spring. Once we had some cold mornings, the CEL showed up. Has to do with the vacuum the car pulls while cold mixed with light shifts.

The reason you have never seen the CEL is, well, cold is not something you know anything about there in 'Sunny Florida'

What CEL code is it showing? Trying to reset it somehow is kinda pointless if its not actually solving the issue.

The purge valve vents fuel vapors back into the fuel system.

Today I had the purge valve replaced, cell cleared, fresh 5w30 syth oil change, tank of Shell 91. runs like a top.

I also have this p0441 code. I do have turbos cai and solo catback. Can I bring this to a deal without any problems for a replacement?

I think that's the code I'm throwing, too. Need to check back with the auto place that diagnosed it again to make sure.
