Need help identifying a part

I'm pretty sure my turbo blew up(loss of power, white smoke) so I'm swapping it out but not sure what the circled part is and is it necessary? cause it's covered in oil and not sure if it's broken now or not, any help is appreciated.

That is an aftermarket catch can on your valve cover breather line. From the looks of it, it could probably stand to be checked to see if it needs to be emptied... 😬

Awesome thank you, it is full so I will empty it haha
yes if the can is full-ish and starts emptying into the intake you could exhibit loss of power and smoke for sure.

I also have no oil left in the car so that's why I think it's the turbo
time to get under the car and take photos / a look at the underside for more oil.

Just undo the coupler on the bottom of the intercooler and if it pours oil then the turbo is gone. Remove the intake and rev and you would here grinding/rattling bearings or a really annoying whoo sound like an owl.

Letting catch can go without emptying can cause major issues
