This 2013 VT is my first turbo car. Friends of mine have had cars with aftermarket turbo systems installed, they always had the aftermarket timers for when they would park them. Has the technology advanced, or is there something built in for when we shut our cars off? or is this something that should be done?

no built in timer.. no need for one.. stock boosted cars are oil and water cooled.

the only need for a turbo timer is with the cheaper oil ONLY cooled CHRAs.

I was under the impression that a small electric pump continues to cycle oil through the turbo in this vehicle after the ignition is cut. Isn't that what that little electric hum is after you shut off the car?
Always wondered what that humm was. I just told people it was my jet turbine powering down. Lol
