Hi all,

I ordered the official November 2020 map and software update (ver 14.10) for my '15 VT w/tech; listed as for models 2012-2015 US version (PN 1411UFS), and have installed it without issue (though it does take almost 3 hours).

Now I'd like to make it available to users here (only cost about $25, but what the hell - why pay it if you don't have to), so I'm looking at uploading the files to the cloud... as far as I can tell, I should be able to just upload the contents of the USB - I don't see that this is a bootable drive, only that there's an autorun program on it. Can anyone with prior experience with these confirm that? I don't want to go through the effort of uploading this just to find out that it won't work for anyone because it needs to be an iso or something.

Screenshot of the USB contents, with "hidden files" shown:

And, for reference, the software/map version after update:

create an ISO from the USB using imgburn, them make/upload as ZIP or leave as ISO :)

easiest way to do it honestly.

This is definitely a stupid question, but what does w/ tech mean?
LOL, not a stupid question: it means "with Tech Package", which added the panoramic sunroof, auto headlights, auto temperature control, 115VAC outlet onboard, backup warning sensors, and navigation - it was relevant to my original post because of the navigation!

Okay then, here's a zipped ISO for anyone who wants it: VNov20MapUpdate.zip - Shared with pCloud

NOTES:
-This is sold by MnSOFT/Hyundai as US part number 1411UFS for V or VT 2012-2017 (also lists Canada Model PN 1413UFS for 2016-2017, but I can't confirm that).
-This requires approximately 3 hours to complete. I strongly advise that you connect a battery charger to the vehicle rather than driving around for 3 hours without your navigation, stereo, or BT.
-This was shipped to me on a 32GB flash drive - it's only ~9GB unpacked in the file tree, but it unpacks more data as it's doing the upgrade, so I strongly advise putting it onto a 32+ GB drive as it was sent to me.
-The manual is simple:
1. Make sure the battery power supply remains stable during update (connect to charger)
2. Switch on the ignition
3. Turn on the AVN system
4. Insert the USB stick that you've burned this ISO onto
5. Press the "OK" button when the popup advising you of Software upgrade appears
6. Press "Agree"
7. Press "Agree" again
8. Leave it the absolute f*#k alone for the next 140-180 minutes
9. MAKE SURE THE IGNITION STAYS ON
10. When it's done, confirm the map version has been updated

It takes a long time but worked beautifully on mine. Please note, I do not provide support or advice for this process; I'm just providing the ISO here for others who hopefully know what they're doing - I don't claim to, which is why I bought the thing from MnSOFT myself rather than fiddling around with it.

I think it maybe also depends on the year and transmission... not actually sure. Seems like the autos had some different standard features than the manuals, and package names/features varied by year too, I think.

My pleasure! Hopefully all went smoothly for you!
...I didn't find a whole lot of difference in the maps (hard to find differences there) but the included update to the bluetooth firmware was pretty fantastic I thought, my head unit will finally hold a decent connection without cutting in and out...

I would be very surprised if it worked, and I would like to know if it did. Almost all modern map updates are tied to a combination of VIN and HU S/N at a minimum. Simply duplicating the installation media almost never works. On a positive note though I recently noticed the mapnsoft website has a section at the bottom now that says there are free updates for select Hyundai models:

'17 and under aren't "modern", though... VIN is only used to ensure you get the correct PN for your unit and area, thus why I specified the PN, year range, and area in the link.

The VIN typically gets embedded in the map update image. At least I know for sure my update did. For my update I downloaded an app from mapnsoft that built the installation media and required the VIN and two numbers from the HU. I have seen cars as old as 2006 use similar anti-piracy techniques and even read extensively about trying to reverse engineer it when I had a BMW that the Navigation DVD cost $650. I assumed that since the update media was shipped to you that your VIN would be embedded in it. I suppose I could download it and see if I can tell you your VIN after I run the files through a few parsing scripts. 🤓

Hmmm interesting... I doubt $25 bought me a custom-coded file, TBH, I would definitely wager dollars to doughnuts that this PN would work equally well on anyone's V or VT within the specified model year range, but eh... that's the sort of thing, too, that's why I specified I don't support this, you never know what kind of crafty stuff they put in there.

Made an account just to post this...

Update WORKED, maps are now "more" up to date
Battery died mid update the first time (even while on a trickle charger and even setting the charger to 10A)
after the failure, maps woulnt load and couldnt bring up a version number
but I simply just re-inserted the usb stick and let it reinstall/overwrite
ended up just running the engine for the 2-3 hours, lost about 1.5 "bars" of fuel

Gadget Steering part Vehicle audio Personal luxury car Center console

EDIT:

i should also add, i tried a 32GB | USB 3.0 | FAT32 formatted stick originally and the car would not read it,
i then changed to an older 16GB | USB 2.0 | Patriot Xporter XT | FAT32 stick and that's what allowed the update to proceed

NICE! Thanks for coming back to let us know it worked; a bunch of people have downloaded that set of files from my cloud but I've never heard a peep back as to whether it worked for them or not. Knowing that it works, I'll upload the next update in the near future; I have the 2021 update from Hyundai and haven't bothered uploading the files anywhere since I had no idea if it was worth the time. Check back in the next few weeks and I'll have the upload linked here!

This worked for me too. Woo hoo!!

After

The upgrade took just under 2.5 hours. I used a 16G USB2 memory stick. I did not want to run the engine during the upgrade, so I borrowed a battery booster pack/jump starter similar to this one and plugged it into the Veloster's 12V power port. I left the ignition in "accessory" mode (not "on", which uses a lot more power).

Thank you, L3g10n!

oh man i love you. when i first got my 2015 turbo in 2019 it never had any map updates and originally mapnsoft wanted over $100 for the updates. Glad i didnt buy it and just used my phone. but now as im getting older having navigation with a bigger screen is much better for my aging eyes. Cant wait for the 2021 update if youre still going to upload, if not still thanks for the 2020 update. much better than having the original map data that came with the car.

Okay all, here's the November 2021 maps and software update, listed as PN 155UFS for '12-15 American vehicles and PN 157UFS for 16-17 Canadian vehicles. This will bring your head unit's SW version to 5.2.15 and your map version to NA.14.47.48.xxx
As before, update time should be approximately 180 minutes; install manual uploaded below.
As before, I do not support this. To be frank, I haven't even done this update yet since I've done the test mode enable on my HU for playing videos without the e-brake pulled and I'll have to go through the whole process again after a HU update, which hasn't been worth bothering with yet since I don't use the OEM navigation system anyway. But for those who are using it and who want the update, here you go; zipped ISO is roughly 9.5GB, so make sure your internet connection is stable!

The manual (linked below) shows the same process as the above update after you've downloaded this zipped ISO, unzipped it, and burned it onto a flash drive, so no surprises there for anyone. Worth noting that past responses to this thread indicate some HUs are having difficulty reading 32GB drives, so a 16GB USB 2.0 drive formatted FAT32 seems to be the way to go. I would personally advise having a separate known-good flash drive with the previous version on it handy just in case anything goes wrong with this version, but that might just be me being paranoid since I haven't personally tried this one yet.
Best of fortune and happy navigating!
