I'm hoping to connect with other OBD users.

I have purchased 2 different OBD2 units for my 2013 VT and can't get either of them to work.

These are the two I have :
Electronic device Technology Gadget Measuring instrument

Technology Electronic device Auto part

From what I have read you have to have the ignition on (but engine not running) for a 60 second bluetooth pairing window.

Has anyone else had a play with these or something similar?

Thanks in advance!

I have both those units (or very similar) and I had no problem at all hooking them up to my LG smartphone or my Nexus 7 tablet. I use the Torque app.

Hope this helps.... try to follow this carefully,

step 1 : plug in the obd DONGLE into the car's obd2 port (to power up the dongle)

step 2 : pair up ur phone BT to the dongle. go to ur PHONE bluetooth setting and look for the DONGLE and pair it . password should be 1234 (pairing OBD dongle to your phone)

step 3 : once paired, SWITCH on your engine and LAUNCH Torque app.

step 4 : (in Torque app) go to Menu>Settings>OBD adapter setting>choose bluetooth device>choose the obd dongle. (to give instruction to the app which BT device to read from)
once done, you can go back to Torque main scrren to verify

If sucessful, u should see the car icon (on the main Torque app page) blinking(communicating) and then turn solid blue and then car RPM showing on the Dial (replacing accel)

if this is successful(congratulations) you can proceed to do other configurations on the Torque app.

I have the scantool.net one and its worth the price. I just plugged it in and forgot about it no need to unplug. When i get around to it im going to install a tablet somewhere as a gauge set and use torque Pro. It has features to make it seem like whatever tablet you install basicly turn on when you start the car and connect as if it was a gauge pod. I have yet to run into a issue with the scantool piece. I may also try to extend the odb port back so I can use the cover and hide the scantool link. Im thinking something like those screw things for motherboards to raise them up. In this case to push the conector back just a tad to clear the tool.
