Spent my President's Day having some fun with plasti dip. I did my wheels (stock 2016), emblems and the front lip (don't have a great pic of that... it's just black instead of gray).
First, cleaned and mask front and rear emblems (I shoved a plastic bag behind the front emblem, wasn't too keen on spraying plasti dip straight into the filter)
Then, cleaned and masked off wheels. I simply sliced open a garbage bag and wrapped it around the rotors and calipers and all the shit that shouldn't get sprayed. I wrapped the lugnuts because I didn't want to fuck with them if I have to take my wheels off, and I like the look of the chrome lugs showing on black wheels. Just wrapped the tape around my thumb and slid over the lug.
Now it's time to start spraying.
First coat is splotchy but from what I read that's just fine.
Here is about 4 coats of black plasti dip.
I also did 2 coats of glossifier... really only gave it a satin look, not super glossy. But exactly what I was looking for.
Here are the before and after shots:
Had a little trouble removing the mask on the emblems, front one got a little messed up I'll have to re-do it. But here's the rear... left the whole Hyundai badge black since I had trouble getting the little bits out
My back and legs are sore. I feel old. But the car looks dope!!!
