I just wanted to leave this little tip here for everyone in the MA, CT, or RI area...there is a shop in Walpole, MA named Boston dip and detail that does some pretty good plasti dipping for really good pricing. I stopped by last week to see some samples in person after getting a quote from the owner and spoke with one of the workers (he said he was partners with the owner I'm not entirely sure what he meant by that to be honest) who showed me some of the stuff they've been working on and I was impressed. He said he redips his car every couple months and has this awesome American flag theme for the summer!
As the name suggests they detail cars as well which I haven't seen an example of in person but the pictures look great. They quoted me at $899 for my entire car to be dipped matte blue similar to 3M's matte metallic blue vinyl wrap. Prices change based on dip and type. Obviously colors like chameleon and color shift will be more expensive. I've decided to go with a different color when I finally dip my car, most likely dark matte red. They said the process takes 3 days;
DAY ONE: Cleaning and prepping. They'll clean the entire exterior (or specific parts being dipped) to remove all wax, debris, and other things that may cause imperfections. Everything is left to dry over night.
DAY TWO: Plasti dipping. This is entirely based on what you're getting done. I'm assuming getting more intricate designs such as the Stars and Stripes shown above or some sort of camo (which can be seen on the "partners" Instagram @dipyourridene (the shops Instagram is @bostondipanddetail)) then it may take an extra day. He said the stripes took 12 hours to tape alone.
DAY THREE: drying and curing. They give the car a day to cure to prevent any imperfections in the wet dip and to help prolong the life of the dip.
I haven't had anything done by them yet but when I do I'll be sure to post more pics and let you guys know how it all goes. So far they have been very helpful and the prices are definitely reasonable! The website is Plasti Dip/Halo/RAAIL Authorized Liquid Wrap Installers for more info like location and they have a quote page. They were very fast on getting back to me with a quote. I put in a request late one night and I believe I got an email the next day. Oh and if anyone does stop by there it's kind of hard to find. GPS will take you into the street and say it's all the way at the end. It is not. It the first building on the left. There's a lot of muscle cars and a custom car shop at the front of the building which I haven't checked out but it may be something to check out as well. Anyways Boston dip and detail owns the last two garage bays at the far end of the building. The shop itself might not look to impressive but the work I've seen by them definitely is! Check it out!
