I have had my car since November and it has about 6000 km on it. I have been noticing decreased performance, but I'm not sure if it is all in my head. In 3rd gear, it almost feels as if there's no turbo. I'd kind of like to confirm before going to the dealer saying that when I floor my car it doesn't feel as fast anymore :) I have the Magnaflow catback and I don't want them to just blame it on that.

Would the torque app give me useful information to see if there is even a problem or if I am just imagining things? I don't know a lot about it.

After 6 month of ownership I too am beginning to feel like my car is slower lol. It must be all in my head. My buddies drive the car and say its faster then their BMWs.

Also had a VW owner with 400HP motor tell me how my car felt as fast as his because his boost doesn't kick in until 5000 rpm.

So it must be in our heads that its slow.

Ditto and Ditto.. but I'd like to add that the torque app can be a very useful diagnosis tool still, especially if you export the data to excel and review it.

You wont be able to pinpoint what is causing the issue, if anything but you will be able to see what is going on by reviewing the data or just by weird blips in the sensor readings..

When are you getting on the car in 3rd gear? It should have a nice amount of pull shifting from high in 2nd and going to 3rd. Feeling like there is 'no turbo' should never happen unless you are going into 3rd gear from like 10 mph until the turbo spools.

yes, Torque + the 24$ mini bluetooth OBD II plug in is well worth the 30$. I use it all the time..

I use it to see how empty the fuel tank actually is (was at 2.7% yesterday, lol) check intake temps, timing, coolant temp, fuel flow, etc.

Mostly I notice it when I'm merging on to the freeway, it just doesn't feel like it has the same pull getting up to highway speed as it did. It also doesn't seem to chirp or spin in 2nd as much as it used to either. As everyone is saying, it could totally be in my head. Another theory I have is that now that I have the magnaflow on, it is pretty loud when you get on it in 3rd and so maybe I subconsciously don't hit the gas as hard. I really wish I had done a dyno when I first got the car.

My VT got a little faster after 3,000 miles and is still pulling strong at 7,000 miles.

Sometimes I find myself flooring it more now because the newness of the power has worn off. But when the turbo is pumping it is as fast as ever.

The problem that I have had with the VT is that the power delivery can be unpredictable. Sometimes when I floor it the turbo pumps and away she goes. Other times - not so much.

Having an M/T I've been able to isolate the "problem" a little bit.

When I am heavy on the throttle and let it rev high as I go up through the gears it is fine. When the revs are low and I am (have been) light on the throttle she can be slow to respond until the revs get fairly high. When the revs are high and I am not heavy on the throttle, typically when downshifting and waiting for my chance to accelerate in traffic or when I get stuck behind a slow car on the on-ramp and get stuck in a low gear without accelerating, the turbo does not seem to respond as hard and I don't carry any boost in to the next gear. In these scenarios she does not make anywhere near the power as she does when accelerating up through the gears.

In my (limited) experience with high flow exhausts they make more power when accelerating hard but lack torque during typical daily driving. It would seem to me that on a turbo motor a high flow exhaust would create situations where it lowered exhaust pressure and therefore lowered the turbo's output during typical daily driving.

Perhaps the lower exhaust/turbo pressure coupled with the VT's finicky power delivery has reduced your power during typical daily driving.
