Probably Buying Tomorrow... Q's about Exterior Colour *Just Signed. White VT Woohoo*

Hey guys, just registered and will probably get a VT tomorrow (at least sign the papers). I am looking at the Century White or Marathon Blue, but I cannot find out if the Blue is a metallic base or a solid base. I know the white is a solid base.

Also, in the UK/Aussie the brochures clearly indicate a metallic base vs a solid base. But in Canada/USA there is no mention of metallic except for the Light Grey Pearl in Canada.

Can anyone clarify if the Marathon Blue, Boston Red, Vit C, Ultra Black are indeed a metallic base or a solid base.

P.S i forgot to check the boston red when I test drove it last week to see if it was a metallic red.

Thanks in advance

Getting the marathon blue was the best choice I made. The saleman put me down for a triathalon gray bc I loved the NA gray they had in the showroom. Then he comes back and asks what my second choice was lol. I am so glad they didn't have the gray in turbo bc the blue looks awesome. I always notice the blue kia optimas out there because of the blue. White looks good too tho, but white is white :p

I know it's not your option but a week ago I purchased my storm trooper white so it's the white with the sparkles as I call it lol I would never consider a plain color in a VT after this because of how great the paint looks. The shine is amazing...

I have marathon blue, and it's nice and metallic and shiny. MUCH better than white.

Out of curiosity, what price are you getting? I can probably get you access to Hyunday Circle pricing. I got mine for a shade over $22k, TTL included.

I'm very happy with Marathon Blue and it is definitely a metallic finish.

Metallic finishes are hot again and at the new car show many manufacturers were showing extreme metallic finishes on their top cars. Extreme metallic finishes were also known as "metal flake" finishes back in the day.

Marathon Blue is not quite a metal flake finish, but it is close.

My Marathon Blue finish has a problem though. The paint has an orange peel texture. Back in the day before modern clear coat finishes orange peel was a very bad thing. My VT still stands out in a parking lot because it has a great shining finish. Maybe that orange peel texture is on purpose in order to get that outstanding look. You can only see the orange peel at dusk or dawn. So I dunno.

I was very picky about my color but now that I've seen a lot of VT's in different colors I don't think there is a bad color. I was very skeptical of white, silver and black but they look great too. White and silver really show off the contours and creases and black looks sinister and impressive. Boston Red was too dark for my taste but it is a chameleon color. It looks much lighter and brighter in the sun and maroon at night. Vitamin C looks great but I fear that it is a fad color and 4 years from now it might hurt its resale value.

The only regret I have is not getting the Matte Grey finish. To me that is the finish that defines the VT and it will be the most valuable and collectible finish. It is an outstanding finish and is thousands of dollars cheaper than any comparable matte finish. It turns out that it is actually the most durable finish for the VT too.

Unfortunately, I am located in Ontario Canada so Circle Pricing doesnt apply here.

But I already pre-negotiated wholesale + 2% and going to dealer tomorrow to possibly finalize the deal btw, wholesale in Canada is $24,374

Yea, I feel Vit C is gonna hurt resale value in the long run, so that is why I am decided to go White or Blue. I am leaning more towards the white cuz paint maintenance is gonna be easier. I work alot and I dont have alot of time to detail the car and blue would require a little bit more attention compared to white.

Go with your gut. Your first impulse is probably the best.

I didn't care for white on the lot but when I see them on the road they have a different look than my blue car. The white color brings out all of the curves and contours better.

But blue is definitely a better color! ;-)

Interesting observation. I've definitely noticed on my Elite White that the surface wasn't exactly smooth, it definitely has some "orange peel"-ish texture. It's not bad, per say, but if you are really looking at it you can just slightly notice that it is not smooth. What does that mean for the durability of the paint? That usually means that the way the paint was applied was incorrect, right?

Wax that stuff and use a Clay Bar!! A lot of work but oh so worth it. Gets all of the contaminants out of the paint...

... .
No it's not. The white with the black glass roof and large black grill plus rear valance looks very sharp.

Not true, look at most mass produces cars over the last few years .. most (if not all) have it.

Get the color YOU want , period! ;-)

Colors are subjective. I personally love white on motorcycles and cars; it is just classy, nice and elegant, at the same time. With tinted windows, it looks even better. Also, in a hot weather, white helps the AC too.

I never worry too much about re-resale value, at least, when picking colors. However (and this is for cars) the more neutral or "common" color, the easier will be for you to sell the car. Weird colors or too shiny colors tend to be in fashion for a while and then it changes. So black, white, even silver, tend to be more attractive over the years.

I remember in Puerto Rico, long time ago, Hyundai Accents with purple or pink colors. They were in fashion for a while, but once they become older, those cars become difficult to sell. I know this because I worked for a Car's dealer there, lol ... not as a sales guy, but as an IT guy; I learned a lot of tricks and was able to see sales patterns, etc; I also designed the website and handled internet sales. Manual shift were also difficult to sell at the time (2002 and 2003) The AT Accent was more popular.

I signed the papers today. The dealer is now looking for a white VT for me. I made it known that I only want white and it had to be very low mileage (no more than 25km). I am willing to wait so there is no rush. They told me 6-8 weeks.

So excited. I did one more test just to satisfy the craving. I love it.
