Hello all!

I am in the market for a 2013 Veloster Turbo with M/T, and I should be pullling the trigger as soon as I can sell my Neon SRT-4. I was primarily looking at the top trim for this car, and I had a question about the included SatNav. Are there any subscription fees that need to be paid in order to use this service, or does it just "work"? Are there ever any updates transmitted to the GPS. I think that this would be pretty cool, but I wouldn't want to pay extra.

Also, do you have any input as to the added value of the ultimate package as a whole? Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

If your SRT-4 has low mileage I say keep it. Every once it while i wish I still had mine. But dont get me wrong the Veloster Turbo is a great car but you already have a great car as it is.

I've have the ultimate package in my VT and I think its really the best way to go if you can afford it. Having that navigation and reverse camera is very clutch and you aren't charged with any subscriptions when you purchase, but theres a 3 month satellite radio preview that also includes traffic and weather information. So if you want those things after they run out you will need to pay. The gps will always work, theres no subscription for that. I would 100% recommend buying this car especially with the ultimate package. It'll be a nice upgrade over your older car technology wise

In Australia we get a free map update for the first three years, performed when the car is serviced - pure and simple, it's an incentive to keep taking the car back to your Hyundai dealer. Updates after that are expected to be around AUD$100 - AUD$150. Our GPS gets traffic updates on an FM radio frequency, and there is no fee for that.

I have the Ultimate Package and I like the SatNav - but I don't love it. The screen with the Ultimate Package does other cool things like the backup camera - which I can't imagine ever living without.

The SatNav does not require any subscriptions to function. After letting my free introductory subscriptions expire I noticed that a few things quit working; voice guided navigation, downloading fresh(er) POI data and real-time traffic overlay on the map.

I use the voice guided navigation from my Android via Bluetooth audio as a workaround the few times I need it. The real time traffic is not as current or accurate as Google Maps but it is good enough and right there on the display which is much more handy than fumbling with your phone while driving.

The VT comes with a DVD that contains the current maps and POI's. I assume that every year or so Hyundai will sell you a newer DVD for about $50-100.

So far i've enjoyed the nav. The looks are pretty good and the directions are accurate. I had an aftermarket in dash Alpine Nav in my old car. Cost me $800 bucks and was a POS. The worst NAV system i've ever used. I ended up using my tom-tom most of the time instead. I really don't have many gripes with this one. It's user friendly and the screen is nice. I don't have traffic service, but don't really need it where I live.

As much as I love my VT, I have a weak spot in my heart for the Neon SRT-4 too. For all of the issues and problems with the Neon SRT-4 it had a lot of things going for it and was the blueprint for the VT in many ways.

I will never forget the first time I saw a Neon SRT-4 with its gaping maw that was stuffed with alloy radiators and intercoolers. I was really impressed by how its nose looked and that it came from the factory like that. That was the first time that I thought that I would be interested in a production FWD turbo limited-edition hot rod.

I will never forget the first time I saw a Neon SRT-4 squirm off the line and make that distinctive loud BOV sound when it came off the gas. It blew away all the tuners of that era. That is when I decided that I'm definitely interested in a production FWD turbo limited-edition hot rod.

Once I saw the VT I was all in. The first thing I asked the dealer was if it came with a 100k warranty, because I knew how short lived SRT-4's motors were. Once they said the VT came with the 100k warranty my mind was made up.

Thanks for the input everybody! I am glad to know that the nav would more or less work the same, even without a paid subscription. I would always have Google maps on my phone as a backup.

Also, I am pretty upset about the prospect of trading in or selling my SRT-4, but I just don't have the time or mechanical knowledge to do everything that I had planned for it. I mean, it does have several bolt-ons, a performance tune, 3" intake and a catless downpipe, but I never went big turbo with it. The car is a blast, but it just isn't terribly practical. Plus, at 76,000 on mostly stock parts, I will be in need or brakes all around, a clutch job, timing belt/water pump, etc.

I think I am sold on the VT turbo! It seems like a fun ride. I will probably get around to test driving one this weekend. I don't think I will miss the raw power of the SRT-4, but I will definitely enjoy a car with a hint of luxury. :D

By any chance how much $$ would you like for the SRT-4?
