I'm in the process of buying a Marathon Blue M/T with Ultimate package from a dealership in ME. I put a deposit on it last weekend and already took next Monday off from work to drive up and get it. When I first talked to him the salesman mentioned that there was an issue with the rear diffuser on the turbo models where it becomes possible for some of the exhaust fumes to make their way up and into an open sunroof. Because of this Hyundai has apparently put a hold on the sale of the vehicle. It's been almost a week now and Hyundai corporate still hasn't given them the green light apparently.
Not sure if this is region specific or what the deal is. The salesman has been super helpful and straight forward so I don't think it's a matter of dealer shenanigans or anything like that.
Have any of you heard a similar story about this issue or is it just me? I apologize if this has been covered before and I missed it.

I've heard it mentioned every now and then, but I haven't heard of anything definite from Hyundai saying not to sell them. I've been driving mine around for about 2 weeks now and haven't noticed this issue at all.

Maybe I should try and contact Hyundai corporate and see what's up? Definitely seems weird as the dealers here in MA have been selling their VT's off with no apparent hold.

They are not BSing you,

Luckily I could not afford the sunroof. :]

I don't think its really going to hurt ya though, but who knows maybe I'll be seeing VT drivers passing out at the wheel soon!

Explain to me how its any worse for you than driving with your windows down in traffic?
Because the exhaust gasses are not supposed to leak from the front of the car ;) (so it's coming straight in, and not diffused from outside air)

And when the windows are down fresh air can come in, but lets assume the cabin is getting exhaust fumes leaking in, and your windows are up so you're not getting any fresh air!

But I'm sure its all hype.

Rear diffuser means the problem is with the aerodynamics of the body kit as it rolls under the bottom back of the car. The exhaust gasses can be directed upwards and be drawn in through an open sunroof. As this only happens when driving, I suspect you might notice a headache after driving for a while as clean air will also be circulating along with the exhaust gasses.

I'm not to worried until I start seeing reports of drivers dozing off or something ;D

So, it is supposedly leaking from the front or the rear ? I figure most but not all people will be only opening the sunroof when they also had the windows down...which there would be no way the ratio of fresh air to exhaust could be substantial. I suppose if you just open the sunroof that may be the issue... but that's just dumb anyways.
