Replacement intake tube with stock air box... plus more questions

A replacement intake tube can be made for the oem airbox, with outlet size up to 3.5", in aluminum or silicone.

No issues with mine thus far and I'm currently around 230-240 whp in my auto, which is +70-80 whp over stock numbers. ;-) Soon to be higher.....

It does help clean up the engine bay and looks better than oem tube. The tube itself adds some hp but not all that much. I want to say dyno showed maybe 3-4 whp gains from a 3" tube on oem airbox. Biggest gains using oem airbox are had when you let it inhale/exhale easier via larger inlet/outlet areas.

Oooh, I like that idea. I've always been leary about using a typical pod cone filter, I just prefer a paper throw away. If I'm not mistaken on most current systems it's not the filter that's the restriction it's the piping? Also with living in south Louisiana I'd like to remove the intake tube that travels all the way down to the lower left fender, I don't drive through crazy deep water but I'd hate to have to drive through 2 inches of water and suck any in the intake because it's getting splashed up from my wheels.
Smaller intake filters will be the restriction vs piping used. Generally the larger filters are on larger piping and both should be sufficient on this platform.
Removing the lower resonator section and snorkel will help flow/power some on the oem airbox.

What are you using to increase the outlet size of the air box? How are you increasing the inlet size on the bottom side?
Outlet made larger by cutting out the oem outlet and replacing with a 3" or 3.5" tube. Remove tube on passenger side of airbox makes biggest difference on the box ability to inhale.
