So last week my VT started to make a loud creaking noise that became so loud it was embarrassing. I narrowed it down to my shark racing rear torsion bar. I hadn't touched the bar since it was installed just a few months ago, so I didn't know what happened. I posted my concern with the bar in another thread, which is when Mr. Pierce said it sounds like a cracked bar. Sure enough when I took the bar off today here's what I found.

I have contacted shark racing and will post a follow up when/if I get a response.

Looks like stress crack, from the pic. I'd say more than likely it was due to lack of fusion of a weld, which turned into a ever expanding/cracking weld. ( hard to tell from the pic exactly though. Could be a poorly engineer part also or both... but leaning towards the first from the pic...

I have one of these myself and the quality isnt very good. The finish is junk and the bar isnt worth anything close to 250 bucks. Op I hope they take care of you they dont make the bar they just sell it its actually made by Maintec.

I posted this as soon as I possibly could so that everybody would be informed. Inspect the welds with a magnifying glass upon receipt and if there is ANYTHING that looks like unfinished, send it back. Or sell it on ebay like I'm doing with mine. Just kidding.

Well I hope mine was just a "bad apple," but yea I definitely would hold off on ordering anything from them until we find out what their customer service is like. Glad I helped in your decision making.

DANG RieBauer17 . And I remember you saying this was one thing that made the biggest difference in the way the vt rides. LOOK AT MY SIG! I got it on my future list mod.

I wish pierce was making one the exact same way this one is made.

PLEASE keep us updated on how this all goes down. If they don't want to make this right Tell them you are a big part of a community that all are VT and everyone is watching on how this is taken cared off and if isn't handle right WE WILL NOT BUY THIS FROM THEM AND WILL SEEK ALTERNATIVES TO EVERYTHING ELSE THEY SALE.

That sucks - RieBauer (OP) I hope Shark Racing resolves this for you or their going to have a lot of angry customers to deal with down the road.. I just bought this last week and installed it this weekend, I must say that so far, I'm extremely pleased with it, the ride is much stiffer and precise, hopefully this is just an isolated issue. Has anyone had this bar for 6+ months?

I don't agree.
When Pierce will builds a part that fills this same niche, he will make a piece twice a well made and track tested.
If he made the same crappy bar with the same crappy wields it would fall apart just a quick.

I'm certain it could be. Smokeshow could handle that for you in a moment of dire needs. You could ship it down here & he could fix/ship back.

Yeah, I would sand blast it and inspect the weld further with a loop to see where the crack stops, if it does at all... Tig it up and call it a day...

I very much appreciate that! This bar is fairly heavy and awkward to ship so for the cost to ship it there and back, and then for youur time, id be better off putting that towars a Pierce Motorsports product. I will donate it to him if it would help him in creating a better bar. My car feels all bumpy again over bumps. Its still much better than before I had the PM 6pt brace, but the torsion made such a HUGE difference when it was fully functioning.
