There is a current shifter on the market that replaces the stock stick... not a bad idea but they are $200. We don't like to build just stick's... we build complete shifter assembly's.

Building a complete assembly allows you to get greater control of the overall shift feel and gives you end control of how much throw reduction you add to the shifter.

Would you be interested in a Short Throw Shifter?

Post up if you would and we will get started on the design.

Thanks,

John

I had a Mugen quick shifter in my Civic Si and it was a very nice piece. Total replacement of the entire shifter assembly. It wasnt cheap though.

For the VT, Id be happy with a set of bushings and a nicer knob.

YES x100!!! I do not want a shorter shifter, I want a BETTER shifter. The TWM linkage bushings did a ton of improvement on the the way the car shifts and feels shifting (no sponge bounce) but there is still plenty of room for improvement.

I asked TWM about one and I haven't heard back. Make link bushings too. Be advised there are two different sets of end links for our cars. I actually have an extra set I could send you (maybe some horse trading). They had to custom make mine since I had the other end links and they didn't ask for the other set back. they also didn't have a car to use either, they just bought the parts and made them from the end links. The install guide was based from a Tiburon...which is not even close...stupid battery

Love to see what you come up with
We are working on it.

If we do a short throw shifter, it will come with end link bushings. Now, when you say it comes with two different sets? What does that mean? Does the VT have two different options for shifter bushings or is that for the NA Veloster and the Turbo Veloster?

Making a better shifter is easy, but if we had the option to make the throw shorter would that be something you would be interested in?

Complete replacements are never cheap, but they are normally the best option out there.

Bushings, easy. New knob will come with the shifter as an option.

The ends that the bushings go in have two designs for the turbos. Not sure what the build date split is or anything. Look at my diy thread for more details.

Put me down for 1, been waiting for a better version of what's currently available and this sounds like it. Want to be able to use the stock knob as well as aftermarket ones (for later). If you could somehow switch R from the left side to the right side next to 5th gear, that would be sweet, although not sure if it's possible. Why they chose to put R next to 1 is beyond me.

I also think that the whole assembly should be moved to the left about 1-2" as it always feels like I'm reaching over to the right way too much.
See, I like the reach where it is.

John, yes a shorter throw would be nice as long as the shifter itself really isn't shorter. I like the height where it is for the most part as it is a naturally comfortable reach position.

We never reduce the height of our shifter, only the throw.

1st/2nd gears are too far to the right. Looking for a shift rod like the bottom one, only bent to the left instead of back. I'll pay extra for a custom shift rod that achieves what I'm looking for.

We will have to look into that but the additional cost would send the shifter into the high $400 range. I don't see a lot of people buying a $450 + dollar shifter.

It's going to double the cost to take a double-bent shift rod, turn it 90* and weld the bottom piece on?
If we only build one, then yes. It would be a custom part because we don't hear a lot of people complaining about the location of the shifter. We don't have intentions of building an offset shifter unless there is a demand for it. Custom parts come with a custom price.

Why not have your machine shop or whomever have different pre-planned setups so you can offer custom options like offsets or double-bents at a reasonable cost upgrade, instead of not planning for it and sticking it to the individuals when they do want custom pieces?

People like flexibility and options, John.

I mean, you're telling us that you want to redo the whole assembly instead of just a short shifter, which is great. If you're going this far, why not go up yet another level by offering customizations and be the best product out there, bar none?
I really wish it was that easy. I wish I could just stop, make a custom part and sell it at cost. Problem being... selling items at cost doesn't pay the bills. With flexability and options comes additional costs. Its not "just" making a change. There are jigs that need to be built, verification's that need to be made, assembly changes, and so on. Its not just putting a piece of rod in a vice and bending it with a hammer, there are several design and manufacturing changed that need to be made to make "one" piece.

We can be the best product out there, but with that comes additional costs. We cannot be the best and the cheapest, I wish we could.

Clutch we can do! We have the first prototype ready, just need to get the OEM unit to slip then we will be installing the new one for testing. Right now we only have a pressure plate and disk upgrade, LW flywheel is in the works.

Short throw shifter is done guys, we are beta testing it right now and it is a complete shifter replacement.

We have a measured reduction of 43% and an effective reduction of 49%. We are going to run the shifter for a few more days and get the customers feed back on it, then we will release it on our website.

Everyone that has felt the shifter absolutely loves it! Its a very positive feel even with the factory shifter bushings, but... we hope to have the shifter bushings ready at the same time we release the short throw shifter!!! This way you get the best shift feel out of any shifter on the market.

I will have customer reviews posted on it before the end of next week!

Thanks,

John
