Has anybody else got sick of the convex (or is it concave?) mirrors for the side mirrors?
I understand we have to have them for the passengers side as it is an Australian Standard requirement but when I found I also had one on the drivers side as well it nearly drove me mad as vehicles appeared further away than what they actually were and this can cause headaches when deciding to move out and pass someone.
Anyhow fixed that problem today. Got a piece of ordinary mirror cut at local window shop and stuck it over the original with silicone and now can view traffic as it should be seen. Guess this was just a left over after converting cars to right hand drive. They left the concave (convex?) mirror on the car as it left the factory. At least this is what I think. :)

I use the little round mirrors on both sides and I have a rear view mirror that sits over the factory mirror. With these I can see EVERYTHING and I never have to twist my head or look back to see if a car is coming. No blind spots at all. That was my 1st mod, do it on all my cars.

All modern cars have convex mirrors left and right and my motorcycle has them as well, which is important on a motorcycle because the mirrors are small and convex gives you a greater field of vision. My previous car from 2007 had convex left and right and I am well used to judging distance; it took about a day if I remember correctly, but I also check over my shoulder left and right (a motorcycle habit). The Veloster turbo has heated mirrors so if you replace the mirror glass you may lose that. In Canberra, mirror fogging and icing isn't uncommon so heated mirrors are a must here. The heating comes on with the rear window demister.

If you swap from car to car, say borrow a hire car or a courtesy car, that car will have convex left and right mirrors so it's best to get used to them now.

Haha.. funhouse mirrors.

ANyway, if you don't want the whole mirror, we can get you the glass only, too. 1 side at a time, no need to buy a pair, but it would seem weird to have 1 side with Korean and 1 side with English...Then again, only you would notice.

Speaking to the OP's dislike about how things seem further away (despite the warning message). Oh man, having ridden in cars in Korea, people cut off others like no other, and they DO check the mirrors, just...they see there's space and they go, not realizing there's someone that's a bit closer than they realize. And I think they use their horns more than in New York.

And...I've been cut off quite a few times because of that. Haven't really got any good video yet, but when I do...I'll take it off my black box. I kind of hope I don't have to...if you know what I mean.
