Hey, having been binge reading the forums for 2 months now since I've gotten the car.

This is Blue. Got her at 25k miles in early January 2020. Spent 2 weeks stock and threw a magnaflow catback on. May the journey begin.

So just to update things.

I got all the things on to the car some time ago.

Issues I ran into during install:
  • stuff not being clamped down enough. Boost leaks everywhere!
  • Throttlebody connector doesn't snap on? so it would come loose during hard accell. Now it's ziptied around the throttlebody so it's not going anywhere.
  • The XWGS was difficult because I didn't know which hoses went where, but after some big brain moments and just referencing how MAC Bov solenoids work I figured it out.
  • The Tial Bov really does require you to run a 1/4" hose if you want it to work properly. So I ended up swapping in some 1/4" hosing from the Tial to the Bov Solenoid. I went to Ace Hardware to pick up a 1/4" Barb to replace the 1/8"? barb on the solenoid.
  • My hot pipe sits very closely against that one bolt from the motor mount so I've noticed scraping. Need to adjust.
Comments
  • So compared to the intake. the Tial is barely noticeable. I enjoy that it's not quiet a head turner like than HKS but other car enthusiasts know what's up. The intake is actually Darth Vader reincarnated. But hearing the turbo whine up to max boost is so. so. soooooo addicting.

This weekend I'm throwing in some Rev bushings. Probably going to shave them down in order to cut down on the idle vibrations. I'm on Pirelli P Zero Nero GT's now so my wheel hop is minimal anyway but it should definitely help put more power to the road.

I had to chop a lot of the lower edge of of the bushings to get them to even come close to fitting in the mount.

I'm still wondering if I have a small boost leak somewhere.

Yeah I ended up shaving them down a bit with a friend to cut down on the idle vibrations. You never feel the car lurch anymore on shifts and it's great!
I've been looking at the front bushings as well now, found them on KDMTuners for around $30

Get them.
One of the cheapest mods with a lot of smiles once installed.

Here's the logs.

Went to a Dyno today just to see where I'm at (find the motivation to chase 400whp).
Highest numbers I saw were 223whp with the absolute worst temperatures. on the bright side, it did gain power after each back to back run. Mustang Dyno

In hindsight
  • I would've been more deliberate about what to do with the car to produce the best result. Those temps were definitely something I could've solved given the time
  • Tried to find a local Dynojet
  • Got an alignment before hand lol

Dang those temperatures! Would love to see dynojet numbers with all temperatures where they should be at instead of sky(no pun intended) high.

Making those numbers with IAT in the 120's + is still good considering. The power it would have made though would have been much better. Looks like the water/meth injection was saving the day even with super high temperatures.

Yeah I agree that I was lucky to even see those numbers! WMI ftw.

Tech told me it's about 16% so 258 in god awful conditions is pretty nice. I was guessing I'd get 230 so not far off... maybe could've gotten a 240 under better conditions.. Sucks I won't get to know what max is for now. But it does give me a baseline as to what 250whp feels like and how much fun more power at this weight could be.

Hard to get accurate dynojet comparison from a mustang dyno due to all the parameters you can change that will change the power output. Only way to know how it compares is run on the MD and note all the parameters then run on a dynojet same day close by. Then you will know the difference between the two with the MD with those exact parameters. The MD can be above, below, or same as dynojet depending on the settings.
Yeah I know. I'm just taking the Tech's word on it because I'm sure he's had plenty of people come in who have been on both. Plus it'll help me sleep better tonight 😂 #heartbreakdyno
So I've been debating on how to go about my last stage of upgrades. These are just my ramblings.

My goal is to be able to sit in my own 400whp hot hatch. I drive a DCT.

From what I've gather after searching for hours on the internet is it's all uncharted territory. Because the TCM pulls power at 270, there aren't any DCT's pushing more power. Or if there are, no one has posted about it. I have to think someone's bought the upgrade... but I haven't seen any examples in the wild.
Does the TCM pull power because it's detecting slip in the stock DCT (ie. solvable with an upgraded dct)?
Or is it hard programmed to do so at that power level (ie. upgrading wouldn't solve the problem alone)?

Talked to 3 or 4 people about solutions and I've heard very different answers from each. I'm probably going to regret this later but I'm the sort of person that can't accept not knowing something. So I think I'm going to push ahead and see what I can do with this car while I've got it. If I fail, I fail. But at least I'll know for certain. I've got two mustangs and a 2 series to beat lol.

This might take me 2-3 years but dammit I'm going to find out! Here's to bad investments, to the mooooooon
