And it looks pretty sweet. He took 2 of them and cut/plastic welded them into one, then painted it.

Very nice. I was looking into doing something similar. I like!
looks pretty awesome, too bad it is really too much work for most people, me included!

looks great. Even though I have to run a front plate, I still like the way this looks a lot.
I'd like to see some shots of it straight on
Man I wish that was legal in Ohio
Get the "hide-a-plate" holders....or whatever they are called....

I don't know....I wonder how well it would hold with JB weld, or some such compound. You could dab a bit on the pieces and then put a good amount on the back of it. He hid the contact points by putting carbon fiber tape across the middle 3 bars, which actually looks pretty nice. If I had $180 to blow, I'd probably give it a go.
Ill take 1 in white and ill bid ehhhhhh... $50 bucks? hahaha I wish
yeah he said it took him 12 hours to do this. he said just because of labor he would charge $500 to do this for someone. DAMN.

Looks great though

I wonder what the rules are on putting your plate behind the grill.. Like, if I had a mesh grill.
Not legal, it has to be completely visable at all times. As long as you are in a state that requires them, the hide-a-plates are legal as long as they are up while on the road. They are made for car shows and are actually really cool.

12 hours worth of labor is what kills it.. Lots of work goes into making a flawless, brickless grille. From the pictures, it looks like an outstanding job.

Not to mention, doing it for people, he would have to buy two grilles (70$ a piece) and a can of paint..

The cost was 150$ so that would leave him with 350$ to make each grille.. Less than 30$ an hour consiring it took 12 hours.

I definitely would not want to put that much time into something I was selling to only make 30$ an hour doing it. Body shops would charge 3X as much an hour.

Technically you could put down a deposit, and he could return it if you sent him your old grille in good shape (which he would then use for the next one he did. That would cut down his costs by around 50-60$. And, I bet you he'd get better with each one he did. I imagine part of that 12hr time was spent taking it off and putting it back on too.
So glad I live in Alberta (no front plates) I cant get a replacement grill fast enough!
