Sooo much spam

yeah, tbh i havent seen this much spam on a forum in years lol

I think most of the mods are from one time region, so when they're asleep or at work, the spammers come out to play.

yeah.. I saw just that happen last week..
I had reported 5-6 right when I logged in which I thought was pretty high and realized they were all the same guy, saw that he was still online and viewing a new thread.. Tried to hit-up an admin and they all were offline and I watched for like 10-15 minutes of him just going down the list and hitting every thread he could..

It's not that the mods aren't awake or here, it's that registering is super easy. There are quite a few ways for each forum type to deter spammers and they all start with registration.

Mods should ban these spammers!

As a lot of you guys pointed out, they mainly get us when were a asleep. I literally wake up, log in at work and start deleting and banning. We do appreciate those of you that report the spammers. I believe we made a change to the registration page to make it a little harder and I like to think were improving but I could be wrong.

These things can take time to fine tune, and there is a fine line between making it hard for spam bots to sign up and making it too hard that new members dont bother signing up.

I never said it was easy, but that is how all of the car forums I frequent kill the spam bots. But as signups become more advanced, so do the bots : / A never ending cycle I'm afraid.

Yeah agreed usually when I'm on early at work I see tons of spam but later towards the night its all cleaned up.

Noxide, glad to hear u guys are fixin up the registration process..
Something else that could help us out is removing the 1min reporting wait, or allowing up to say 3 reports per minute.. any chance you could make that happen, at least until the amount of Hit'n'Run spam is cut back?

Just kinda sux sometimes when I log in and start immediately reporting spam and jumping to the next thread I gotta sit there and wait for it.. Half the time I just lose interest and move on and either hope someone else snags it or I come back to it and report it..

But you guys do a great job knockin it out!
So keep it up!
