Short story - According to my dealer, who called Hyundai yesterday, the correct kit for the Turbo will be available in another 4 to 6 weeks. So for those of you who haven't made other arrangements, the correct tire should be available before too long.

Long story - I stopped in at the dealer yesterday to see about swapping my 125/80/15 spare for the correct 125/80/16. They of course told me that the one I had was correct. I then showed them the Owner's Manual which states the correct spare for the Turbo GDI as 125/80/16. They didn't know what to do then. So I told them to put the car on a lift and see if the 15 inch wheel would fit over the brakes, and if it did I would be on my way. They took me up on it. And of course the wheel would not fit. THat's when they called Hyundai. I'll stop back there in another month or two and order the kit, assuming that it is available at that time. THen they'll just swap my 15" for the 16".

Ill definitely be getting the kit. Throwing one of my stock wheels and tires in the car for long trips is just an inconvenience. But after being stranded in North Carolina because one of the Kuhmos its worth it

I'm just going to put a matching tire/wheel in the well and build a light weight deck to keep the floor level. It will cost me a couple inches of cargo space, but the kit will cost as much as another full size wheel, and the jack/tools are chicken shit anyway.

That being said, thanks for the updated information.

They should work and I believe others here have them. The dealership probably doesn't want the possible liability issue giving you parts that the manufacturer designed for a different model. Thanks for asking them for us though.

The Sonata wheel may very well work. But I think the dealer was just going 'by the book' and the computer system apparently doesn't show the Sonata wheel as working for the VT.

Was at the body shop yesterday, stopped by the parts department they told me they had one spare tire kit in stock, specifically for the VT.

I'll have to pick one up soon and make sure it's the right one lol

I read this and ran out and checked right away! They must have gotten their shit together by the time my car rolled off - it has the proper 16" spare (it also has gas pistons for the hood which I hear some 2013 VT's do not).

Cool. My car was produced in the middle of May and did not have the spare. So your car having one at least confirms that they will be available soon.

Edited to add: I just noticed that you're in Canada. That might make a difference.

It does. The Canadian Velosters all have a spare. 16" like I have mentioned many times before lol.
Hey, do you know if Canadian Velosters have spares? If so will this 13" trailer tyre that the dealership gave me work?

This is my email to Hyundai re: Veloster Turbo Spare Tire Kit followed by their response. BOTTOM LINE: NO Spare tire Kit for the Veloster TURBO and no "estimated time of arrival for the spare tire kit.

MY EMAIL...

I want a spare tire kit for my 2013 Veloster TURBO that fits into the wheel well of my 2013 Veloster TURBO. When will one be available? Will the 2013 Sonata LTD 2.0T spare tire kit fit the Veloster TURBO? There are many requests online for a spare tire kit for the Veloster TURBO. What are you guys doing about it? A fix-in-the-can is NOT a solution for me since it's not 100% guaranteed that it will fix a flat and my wife is intimidated by the process that one has to go through to fix a flat using your Tire Mobility Kit. Please be HONEST and give me a viable alternative to your 2013 Veloster TURBO Tire Mobility Kit. I and hundreds of other 2013 Veloster Turbo owners are anxiously waiting for your response. In good faith, this email is sent to HYUNDAI Headquarters, NOT the Dealership who sold me the car. The dealership says there isn't a spare tire kit for the 2013 Velosoter TURBO. I WANT AN ANSWER FROM HYUNDAI HEADQUARTERS - STRAIGHT TALK, NO BULL! Best regards.

HYUNDAI'S RESPONSE...

Thank you for contacting Hyundai Motor America. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your spare tire kit request concerning your 2013 Veloster Turbo.

We regret to inform you that we currently to not have any spare tire kits available for the Veloster Turbo. Also, the spare tire kit for the 2013 Sonata is not manufactured to fit inside the Veloster Turbo, and is not recommended for use in the vehicle. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause.

Your vehicle also has 5 years of Hyundai Roadside Assistance. Roadside Assistance will send a small truck to help you use the tire mobility kit if you do not feel comfortable using it. In the event that your tires can not be fixed by utilizing your tire mobility kit, Roadside Assistance will dispatch a tow truck. You can reach Hyundai Roadside Assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling their toll-free number (800) 243-7766.

Although the spare tire kit is not available for your vehicle, we recommend contacting your Hyundai dealer to purchase a spare tire. Spare tires are sold separately from the spare tire kit and are also considered an accessory for your vehicle.

We currently to not have an estimated time of arrival for the spare tire kit. To keep track of what accessories are available, we recommend visiting our website https://www.hyundaiusa.com/ and accessing the 'Vehicle Accessories' tab to stay updated on accessories are available for your Veloster Turbo.

We have documented your comments and your case number 5950863 can be referenced if we can provide further assistance. If you prefer, you can reach us by calling our toll-free customer service number at 1-800-633-5151, Monday through Friday 5:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Saturday and Sunday 6:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. PST.

Thank you for being a valued Hyundai owner and for contacting Hyundai Motor America.

So if the tire cannot be "patched" and it's after regular business hours and or on the weekend what are we supposed to do, especially if traveling. That really sucks. I'm hoping I can find something soon. Although I do have some tires that were on my vibe GT that are the same size it's the principle.
