sooooooo I'm talking with a local shop about making a bolt in stock replacement FMIC .. you would have the option to use the stock BOV or stock replacement ones.. as well as getting another flange for an extra fee..

I found intercooler cores from Bell performance

and looking at these sizes the stock intercooler is 11.5x7x3.5 so it's about .5" bigger height and width ( I can get 7" width however I figured the extra in 1 way. .5 inch another way would be beneficial.. that being said if there is significantly more room we could work out going even bigger however I wont know that for a bit. and that would obviously effect the price they have just about every size you can imagine )

D H W CFM
3.50 7.50 12.00 447 $268.00
3.50 7.70 12.00 459 $273.00
3.50 7.90 12.00 471 $278.00

the increase in Ci isn't huge however it should be more efficient for sure

we're looking at selling it for potentially around 450 ( again this would be plug and play so you could get FMIC first then charge pipes later ( we will be looking into those as well, we haven't discussed full pricing but I'm guessing a full kit would be around 700 -750 if we can keep good on that FMIC price)

would anyone be interested? this would all be custom fabbed on a build to order basis probably. This is currently just an interest thing, I possibly will be getting it done regardless (not anything against turbosocks or anyone else looking into doing something, I just like supporting my local places, and I'd prefer stock drop in stuff if possible.

should be a great idea. Another good idea to couple with this replacement FMIC is a replacement tubular crash bar to get more flow to the intercooler in that position.

Honestly, my first idea would have gone along the lines of upgrading it in the stock location but I went the FMIC route for two reasons: a majority of people will honestly buy it for the look of the FMIC and it was easier.

the 450ci core would be a great size, especially since you wouldn't be increasing the length of the piping at all. with 450ci, you should be able to port the turbo and upgrade the wheel and still not have issues with cooling efficiency, especially if the core is well designed.

yea i like the look of a fmic but I also like the element of surprise. Yea a tubular crash bar would be a good idea, however for MY car I wouldnt want to do that for insurance reasons some insurance companies are hit or miss with that. that being said the shop I'm working with has developed a few of those for other cars so I'm sure they'd be down .

as far as porting the turbo and stuffing a new wheel in there I have a company that is interested in that I just need to get my hands on a turbo manifold/turbo from a wrecked VT lol and thats gonna be difficult.

as far as easy PnP ... theres nothing i've found thats close to the right size plus i'd be having the endplates made with the bov flange on it

i wish someone woudl develope a fmic that uses stock hookup for the look a very large fmic would look bad ass and i dont think the negative effects woudl be that noticable plus it woudl give people a reason to upgrqade the turbo i am definatly on board for any turbo upgrades i think this car is just a little too slow and could use a good kick in the pants

yea i know turbosock's kit will be popular due to the size of being able to see the FMIC.. however I'm more for function> form and ease of install, not that turbosock's setup will be against either one of those but i'm sure you get the point.
