I was not overly impressed with the performance. .it was a 2012 RS. Package with v6 engine.. just didnt feel any faster than our VT..was it because it was an automatic? Or maybe its a heavy car

I test drove one before I got the VT and was actually impressed with it being a v6, it was a standard however.. I will admit I shifted horribly since every car is a bit of a transition but my dad and I were a bit surprised.. This was from lime first to third so i didn't see what it could do past like 60 but nonetheless it had nice acceleration..

the autos are painful without a tune.. they pick up over a second with a tranny tune alone if i remember correctly lol
I traded in my 2011 camaro rs for my VT. I had a cat back exhaust and an intake but for the gas mileage it still wasn't fast enough. The interior was garbage but I have to admit I got more looks in that car
I test drove both the V6 and V8 Camaro before I bought the VT.

The V6 AT was fast but it didn't feel as fast as the VT MT around town. It was just too heavy and sluggish and by the time it decided to shift the VT would already be gone. I think in a drag off the line it could beat the VT but it was really slow around town. The only MT they had was a V8 and it was a monster. It could eat the VT for lunch but it was unpleasant. It was never happy in any gear around town other than 5th or 6th. And then it was lurchy in those gears when you slowed down. Shifting down to 4th was often too much and it didn't like revving like that. It's hard to explain but it just didn't like to drive around town and I was always hunting for the right gear that kept it out of the power.

With the VT you can just drive it around everyday without worrying about all that.
Sorry ive driven a few configurations of the new Camaro and think its an insult. Im a ford guy yes but they should have let the camaro die in 02. The 02 SS was badass.

I'm just telling you how it felt to me...after driving my VT manual (with Injen CAI and Solo exhaust) for 9 months..to me VT felt faster... ....He let me try the paddle shifters, which where garbage cause the buttons for the shifters turned with the wheel, and the buttons are tiny so if you're turning. forget about shifting with paddle shifters.. BUT i will Agree, Camaro is the winner in the looker category... looks like a car on steroids...
I was shopping out RS Camaros. I was on my way to go make a final negotiation on one, when I decided to stop at Hyundai to take a look at one last practical option. The next day I drove home my VT.

I am a die hard Camaro fanatic...I just couldn't justify it. One day when I have tons of fun money I'll get a ZL1 or something.
The V8 Camaros SS/ZL1 are pretty bada$$ cars. A buddy of mine traded in his 2.0T Genesis for a '13 SS/1LE Camaro and its an awesome car. The V6 with its 320hp pushing 3700lbs is awfully underpowered for its size and weight. They are a mid 14 second car on a good day. I like the Camaro, I just wish it wasnt such a big heavy boat of a car.
I too have driven all but the zl1, the SS auto is a very weak car in my opinon. It does not shift that well even if you are using the paddles. The 6 speed on the other hand is quite a bit more fun than the auto. My co-worker picked up the 2012 white synergy camaro and that thing looks 101% better than the stock bodied one. I would have loved to get the Green Synergy one when they were out but ehhh I'll just dip a VT in that color or close to it.

its a heavy car, plus its a v6, its not supposed to be fast
Very heavy car. Ill tell you what though. My buddy has a 2011 v6 mustang which is the 3.7 v6 rated at 305 and that car is impressive as hell. We did some highway pulls a couple weekends ago and he pulled me 3 times and hes on 20s. Didnt destroy me but on stock wheels and tires it definitely would have been worse for me.

how much do the stangs weigh?

I know the new camaros are up into the 4500 lbs range OUCH
The V6 camaro only has like a 3800 lb curb weight. The mustang is a tad under 3500 if i remember correctly so not a huge difference in weight. The thing that really makes those cars are the rear gears though.

thats it?

hmm must be thinking about the challenger
The challenger is very heavy i believe a fully loaded SRT8 is upwards of 4300
SRT 8 Has a Gross weight of 5300# But with a 6.4 Liter with 470hp 14 city 23 hwy = 18 all purpose lol
Dont care about gross weight curb weight is what matters. Plus 470 isnt enough to move that fat car.
I'd love 470rwhp in a 2400pd car :furious:

Eh youd have a highway monster. It would never hook.
