Hi All,

So wanted to make myself known, I've been lingering on the forums for a while as I eagerly await my VT! Quick question, how long did people have to wait when one was factory ordered?? I'm 2 weeks in to my 12 week wait and had enough already. Did anyone else see similar wait times?

Hi, welcome to the forum. I got my Matte VT last September. When I walked into the dealership to purchase the VT they told me 8-12 weeks (sales guy says that it thier standard answer). I gave them $500 as deposit on my credit card. After a week I called them up and asked if they would give back my $500 deposit and take $200 cash instead. I didnt think it was fair to hold $500 for 12 weeks. WHen they called back they said no they would not refund my deposit and that because it was a matte they would not take a lesser deposit. In reality I only wanted the money back so I could by a few goodies for the car before it arrived. Anyways, durring that call they told me that my matte car was actually in transit and would arrive in 4 weeks. I told them that I accpeted the 12 week wait, but now that they told me 4 weeks I was happier then pigs in Poo. I told them that they better not be B.Sing me because I wanted my deposit back, I will be beyond pissed if the car doesnt arrive in 4 weeks. As promised, 4 weeks later the car arrived.

I think I lucked out hopefully your car will come sooner then 12 weeks

Panny I notice you are in Perth WA and maybe the wait times are longer there but I used "Fleetbuyers Australia.com and they got me the car I wanted (colour, manual etc) and I had it in 9 days , and I found THAT hard to take. :)
I read on this forum that ppl are waiting ages for cars to arrive, I really do feel sorry that they have to wait so long to enjoy driving their car as it is such a great car to drive..

Good luck.

When I bought in August 2012 there was no such thing as "order". Found what I wanted and had it shipped from Chicago for $750. See what lengths some us addicts will go to when pushed..LOL

Hi Panny, I waited 8 weeks to the day but mine was already in production and unassigned at the time I ordered. I believe a fresh order is 12 weeks. Also delivery times can be affected by date car finished and next available ship to port to be delivered into. US lead times are irrelevant to Australian SR edition lead times as they are very different cars (Right hand drive for a start so third door on other side) and have a much more limited production run.

BTW Welcome to the forums :)

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys! The one thing I've noticed since hitting the forums is how friendly everyone is around here! Definitely starting to think I made a very wise choice in car :D

I'm definitely in a spot of envy for everyone that got theirs in about a week. I was quoted the 12 week wait period and week 2 was yesterday. I've actually got a spot in the garage for it already (that can be seen from the lounge room - it's like an undercover area that joins the outdoor sitting area - reserved for it when it arrives so I can start work on it). It's a bit sad just looking out at the empty space at the moment though!

Does anyone know what shipping times to australia are like? I imagine double what it would be to the U.S but then again geography always was my worst subject!

Cannot wait to just get it already and join the club of esteemed VT drivers :D

What I like about the forum is not only is most of everyone friendly but it's a smaller sized community versus like a mustang forum so you actually get a feeling of knowing someone just because you see them frequently posting replying back and fourth..

Shipping time Korea to Australia is less than to the US (the distance is shorter). I had difficulty finding a demonstrator to drive in Canberra but tracked one down in Moss Vale, so I went for a drive and took out their as yet unregistered and un-driven demonstrator and ended up buying it! They delivered it to Canberra a few days later and took my previous car back. Dealers are allocated automatics for stock, but manuals are built to order and it takes a number of months before Hyundai have enough orders to run a batch through. My turbo is obviously automatic which is why I picked the Veloster, as it was one of few performance coupes available as an automatic (indeed three-quarters of their production is automatic).

Panny there is a Red Turbo manual sitting in a (new) dealership here in Cobram, Vic. Told them they are not to sell it to anyone in our area as it is the same as mine. LOL

Hahaha you're lucky papabear, mine coming in is a Red Turbo auto! What amazes me still is how many you don't see on the road still. I suppose that's due to the few numbers coming in to the country.

Thanks for that email cbrmale. I'm hoping now then that because I've ordered an auto that I might be lucky enough to get a non-allocated one already in production. Anything to cut down this wait! :p

If you can get a Hyundai stock number and/or VIN out of your dealer for your order than you know it's in production already (as mine was) so wait will be about 6-8 weeks depending on shipping availability. if you can't then its not in production yet so would expect 12+ weeks.

From my purchase experience, Hyundai appear to ship to closest port and not to sydney/melbourne port and truck rest of the way as some do. This means your car has to sit on the dock in Korea until a ship heading your way.

Hmmmm interesting. I emailed the dealer yesterday and he didn't give me a VIN or anything but he said its still in production but "running to schedule" whatever that means. Was kinda hoping I'd snag one that was just sitting around awaiting assignment.

Think I'm gonna do what you did Bender and chase up every 2 weeks and hope for a miracle.

P.s I don't know how you did it ghost, 21 weeks and I would have lost the will to live :p
Agreed, I tried to "dislike" his post because reading his long wait made me mad! But there was no such button :(

So after speaking with the dealer yesterday (with 2 weeks left in my 12 weeks), I was told that the ca hadn't even gone into production yet and delivery would possibly be September.

So I told them to forget about it and am going to another dealer. I was chasing an auto red, but have found a dealer with a manual red so am going to settle on that.

Does anyone have any comments on the manual? Is it very sensitive? The main reason I wanted an auto was just for convenience
