Hey fellow auto enthusiasts!!

Please allow me to introduce the newest Veloster Turbo on the block in Northern Virginia... She's an Ultra Black Beauty with the Ultimate Package and Auto transmission. This is my wife's new car and we are both enjoying it. She's always enjoyed having a car that doesn't blend in with all the other boring-ass cars on the road, and one thing's for sure... the VT sure as hell doesn't blend in!!! LOL!

Anyway, I just found this forum today and find these things to be fun, educational and a great place to get new ideas to make a unique car all that much more unique! Looking forward to the time spent on here! Pics will be up soon, but since we've only had the car for 5 days, it's still 100% stock (except for the tint job we just did today) and I think everyone around here knows what that looks like! :)

Cheers!!!

congrats to you and the wifey! that 796 is a killer bike, btw.
Thanks! Believe it or not, she was the one who picked out the VT, not me. This purchase was "her" car, so I was a bit shocked when she said she liked it... and loves it more every day, too! I've got my toys, so guess she can have hers too, right?!?! LOL

Thanks, I love my Ducati.... I just wish the sun would get us back up to permanent riding temps around here! We were in FL before here and I had a 12 month riding season there! This 6-8 month season is KILLING me!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^^^^

Thanks, Cristobal! There aren't many VT's floating around this area, which is one reason we went with the VT over something like the Mini or VW GTI. What do you have in mind for a cruise/meet up? We're new to the area, so not very familiar with where the fun roads are out here... other than the fact that they AREN'T towards the Beltway! ROFLMAO!!!!

Well first off my name is Chris, not cristobal, thats just my name in spanish :)

I have only seen 3 other VT's (veloster turbos) on the road. One driven by a maniac out on 66 over the weekend, swerving in and out of traffic. Another one was by a lady who wasnt playing with a full deck and thought paying over 29 grand for a VT was a great deal, and a third one that I saw going in the opposite direction. I know TONS of roads where you can have fun, but if youre rockin the crappy stock Kumho's, you wont have too much fun without going into a ditch.

I was actually looking at the GTI autobahn, but fully loaded with DSG was 32 grand OTD....yeah right. It may be a tad quicker and handle better, but no way is it worth 32 grand. Plus the nav in it was garbage.

My bad, "Chris!" :)

Yeah, we looked at the GTI just before the VT and even though my wife LOVED the plaid interior of it, she felt the exterior was ... well, BORING. I can't say that I don't disagree w/ her! It's a classic design, but has gotten stale among others in its class, IMHO. We've only had this car for 5 days, so yeah, still have the stock Kumhos on it. Don't plan on changing em up anytime soon, though... gonna look at other mods first. Not sure what, but I'm looking at all angles. I need to keep the cost down for the time being... I still have the SX-L that may get some mods soon, too. ;-)

I have to admit, the GTI was more fun, shifted much quicker, handled a lot better, but besides those two things, It wasnt worth the 6 grand cost OTD over the VT. If youve never been to Skyline Drive, its a trip you and your wife would love. Its about an hour and a half from you, costs about 15 bucks to get on (I get the pass every year for 30 bucks because I go up so often) and is fun on the way up. The twists and turns are super fun on 211. Once you get into the park though, the speed limit drops to 35, which I dont mind. I like to take in the views.

Im actually going to head up there the weekend after this one (mine and my wife's bdays) for a little cruise.

Sounds like something we will definitely have to look into! Thanks for the info!

As for the comparo to the GTI... I totally agree w/ you and the Nav setup is crap compared to what Hyundai has w/ BlueLink. I can start ours from my iPhone, too... which is a pretty cool trick! No need to buy a costly aftermarket device, either. We just have to decide if we want to keep the BlueLink subscription or not once our free trial is up in a few months. :)

If you bought it 5 days ago, renew it now for another 6 months for a discounted rate. Ive used the bluelink a couple times to remote start the car, havent had any issues with it. Works pretty well. I wouldnt bother renewing the navigation part of bluelink, since we already have nav, I dont see the point. I got the feature that if I break down somewhere, god forbid, I hit the little button and they can get a tow truck to me. But it gets super expensive if you renew it past the 6 months. Theres no way im payin 130 bucks a year just to remote start my car from my phone LOL.

You're right... that's ridiculous to spend just to start your car from your phone! We are on the trial period and not sure what we'll do with it when it's up.

OK you two...GET A ROOM! :)
Hi Cristobal...to followup on our PM exchange some weeks ago, my Dad passed away last weekend so I've been slowly coming back to my routine. And BTW that "maniac out on 66 over the weekend" wasn't me, was it? (I hope not cuz I think I drive like Grandpa)
-and welcome to Tex2013VT...your wife has very excellent taste in cars...check my signature! I don't know where you are "outside the beltway" but perhaps one day we'll cross paths and do a "double-take"? For a fun drive take the roads around Clifton...curves, hills and beautiful scenery.
Did you all see that latest snowfall projections out here...12 to 18"! I think me and the Turbo will take a snowday tomorrow.

Omg dude...im so sorry about your dad.......
Well, it was a black vt, it was Saturday morning on my way to my 370z meet around 945am. I saw him around the exit for fair lakes heading east on 66. Hopefully it wasn't you!
5 bucks says we get less than 3 inches of snow, they're hyping this up big time.
this april, you up for a cruise up to skyline drive?

LOL... that's funny!

On another note... Sorry to hear about your dad.

I'm not far from you actually. We are in Chantilly and we got our VT "twin" of yours at Brown's in Manassas. As for the snow... I say "whatever!" It was 50* out today and it'll be back up in the 40's on Thurs and only getting warmer after that. This is a "flash" storm at best. I'm from Texas and don't get freaked out about the snow storms around here like the locals do! It actually cracks me up... and I was up here working in '09 during "snowmaggedon" and even that wasn't the worst I've ever seen or lived through. All our power lines here are underground, so I'm not worried about losing power if it gets bad. I'm guessing we get no more than 6".... but either way, it'll last a day, 2 days tops. :)

Thanks, he had a great life and was ready to go at 91 1/2. Dementia is so cruel...

Well, I'm kind of a "pick my lane and stick with it type" and besides 9:45am was right in the middle of my morning nap. Followed by my afternoon nap. And of course the evening nap. Sleep helped the grieving process after a tough week...

"5 bucks says we get less than 3 inches of snow, they're hyping this up big time."
There's a lot of dynamics to this system (I'm a weather-freak) that will put down a LOT of moisture but that rain/snow line will be critical. I went out at lunchtime to get gas and had to open the sunroof to cool the interior! Whatever does fall as snow will be gone by early next week!

"this april, you up for a cruise up to skyline drive?"
Sounds good -as long at the 2+ feet of snow they get up there is melted by then! :)

I wore out both Sales Mgr. Al Patino, and Sales Rep Steve Kang. Mine was one of the very first Turbos they got last Summer. Negotiations began 6pm Friday and ended 4pm Sat 9/1 when I drove it off the lot. They didn't get another Black Turbo until Feb! I was back for my first oil change several months ago as an Elite White Turbo they got that morning was in final prep for delivery already. Stunning in white...as you well know!

Yep, and I think its still on their lot as of a week ago. They have the largest selection of VT's, but for me, what I didnt like about them was they barely budged on price. Fairfax Hyundai had nothing no their lot and Malloy had a white one and they beat browns best price by about 400 bucks. The metallic white is a nice color I must say, my first choice was blue or black, but really Hyundai has such great colors, any but red I would have bought.

How would you guys like to set a day next month to go on a skyline drive cruise. Sundays are best for me but saturdays work as well, just as long as they arent on my 370z group meetups.

We pretty much wore out Al when we bought ours, too. We got ours at a reasonable price and they worked with us quite a bit. It probably helped that we were in there on the VERY last day of the month and they wanted a sale badly because of the short month. Note to self for future car purchases.... buy on 28 Feb every time! LOL!

They went out of their way to find us the color/pkg combo that my wife wanted and got it to us the next day from another dealer that had it in stock from MD.

I'd be up for a drive next month, as long as my schedule is free and there's no snow left on the roads! :)

Ya see, I coulda probably gotten a better deal (26 grand otd) but I HATE sitting in car dealerships. At malloy I called the salesman, asked how low they could go, drove there, drove it around the block (I test drove a silver one at browns so I knew I already liked it),went right in to finance office and an hour later I drove out the dealership.
