Hey guys,

Thought I'd keep you in the loop and let you all know there is an Australian custom dyno tuner that I discovered today who has my car now and will be performing the tune over tomorrow for pickup tomorrow night. He said he has been developing for over 6 months (and 3 of those were just cracking the ECU) and has a huge range of serious parts that are already developed. He has over 20 years tuning knowledge so knows what he is doing and has said he will tune for maximum power without compromising safety. He has replacement turbos developed, replacement conrods and pistons and everything. He hasn't used them in a VT yet but wants a test bed soon - he has been keeping a lid on this for a long time but has said I am able to talk about it now as they are almost at the point of advertising these himself.

I will post before and after dyno charts - before will be with the intercooler, gutted downpipe and muffler delete and air filter. After obviously all the same but tuned up to the highest power level without compromising the safety.

I'll release details as soon as I can confirm that he is good and I'll see if I can organise some kind of forum special - no guarantees though!

He is located in South Brisbane so pretty close to everything.

I'll keep you in the loop! :haha:

I will update this thread either tomorrow when I get the car back or he has said worst case it may spill into Saturday. He is 95% on it being tomorrow and to be honest I am hoping so too. Want it done! He has also said that he is very thorough so he has made sure to get all of the maps from the stock tune instead of bits and pieces. He had to sort through over 500 maps from the stock ECU. He is spending about 5-6 hours on my custom work.

I'll make sure that I put up dyno sheets. I may have to scan them at work tomorrow to put them up so you may not see them until Saturday night when I get home. Can't wait! He had an Isuzu D-Max ute on the dyno tonight (I know - totally different car and turbo diesel) but with an initial play around tune he went from 80kw and 440nm @ the wheels to 110.5kw and 605nm @ the wheels. Bodes well - especially someone who is dedicated enough to the platform that he already has stock of upgraded turbos, conrods, pistons, intercoolers, exhausts and everything! :)

Watching this keenly. Be very good to compare your results against Rugerfly's results.

Definitely - I was going to go the same route myself in regards to tuning but nothing beats having a custom tune done for your exact car with someone sitting in it doing the tweaking to EXACTLY what your goals are. I'm not trying to take sales off John (TorkMe) and as I said, I was just about to give him some money myself before I tripped over this guy, but this is going to be more effective and I can tell this guy face to face what I want and he has the experience. It's more expensive overall than what I was going to pay for TorkMe to do the work but surprisingly not that much, it's alot less mucking around with posting away ECUs and it's a full custom tune.

To buy the replacement ECU and get the canned tune was going to cost $450+$595US (about $700 odd Australian) which means about $1150 total. I'm paying a couple hundred more but I get the support, the full custom tune and the peace of mind I can speak to and see this guy's experience.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Nice one Rotary. I have been teeing up with the Renault club for track days and went to queensland raceway lady weekend. They have another at lakeside in June for happy laps. If your keen I will keep you informed so you can see how our cars run verses the Clio's and Megane's.

IS this the same company that was over on the ***** forums? They seem to do some really awesome stuff if that is the case and it is about time they started tuning :)

i am unsure how you could be taking sales for torkme. it is tough to deal with an overseas customer. sometimes painful. it is a better end result (for you) having a tuner in the country.

i mean just think, when the BTR/SFR guys are not around and your car starts acting funny, you're at the mercy of the tuner who jumps back and forth between korea. and even worse if he doesn't pop up locally.

my NAV had a very slight idle hunt after my tune (PROS far outweighted the CONS) and it would have been months before I could get it addressed at a local tuning event.

Hey Turbosocks, not sure who it is youre referring to? If its the guy I initially spoke to about tuning he was a dead end - he shelved the idea because it was too hard basket.

I had a local Tuning company in NSW who have statewide company. ID bet the same one. I gave my business to tork in the end as he has put a lot of time in as well. I dont want to add up how much it ended up costing me. I wasted 140 plus 90 bucks for hyunda not to flash my spare ecu properly. But I am so glad I didnt use my original.

Rugerfly this guy is an independent autosport shop who specialise mainly in Evos but have seen potential in the VT and been working on it. He definitely isnt part of a large organisation.

In a way its a blessing in disguise that ive been waiting so long as ive had the time to do my flow mods. I should be able to push further than someone without an intercooler and much higher flow exhaust and downpipe.

Got a call to tell me that my car made 126kw at the wheels standard with exhaust and intercooler. Around 160hp for you American guys and girls. He said he expects much more than that when he is finished. Keen!

Maximum, could you PM me the details of it? PS: 126 seems a bit low at the wheels when it's rated at 150 at the fly. Are you running 91, 95 or 98 octane?
