My engine started making a noise like it does occasionally when the oil is low, so I got an oil change and the noise did not improve. I've since taken my car to a mechanic and he said my valve lifters are bad. The parts in question I've seen called valve lifters, camshaft followers, tappets, and in the service manual they're referred to as MLAs.
But there are several different part numbers listed for the part from a Hyundai parts catalog.
I have a 2016 Veloster Turbo with a manual transmission and can't find what sizes my car requires.
Has anyone else had to replace these parts? I'd appreciate any information on the subject.

Mileage on the engine? Oil type used? Filter? Oil change interval?
Around 115k miles, consistently synthetic blend 5w-30 since the first oil changed, filters have varied, I'm not sure. About 5k miles between changes, though I checked it more frequently and it only seemed a little low once maybe at 100k. I got my oil changed and it didn't happen again.

This is likely a maintenance issue. You need to run better and proper oil, proper oil change intervals, proper filter before doing anything else to see if the noise stops. None of this has been done properly at least consistently which is a major cause for noises like this and for reducing engine and component life.

I did full synthetic and a K&N oil filter this last time and the issue did not resolve. The mechanic has already removed the valve cover and I think two of them need to be replaced. I want to replace them all, but I found the parts in several sizes. I'm not sure which ones I need to order, or if they're even all the same thickness.
I can't find information in a repair manual or rebuild kit either. Wondered if anyone else had to replace them on their engine.

Should find what you need in a FSM and can order what you need from Albert Hwang on FB. If you need a FSM I can email that to you.

FYI you can't use K and N filter in these engines. Use of other than oem filters can cause issues in these engines. Also just any synthetic oil is not good. 5W30 is not the recommended spec. Also 5k miles is not the OCI. If what the mechanic is telling you is truly needing replaced then the engine will likely have more severe issues not yet found. Most misdiagnose this by not knowing the common issues with the engine and proper preventative maintenance.

Original specs by hyundai were 5W30 hince why that is on all of the oem oil caps however hyundai for quite some time now announced that the recommended oil weight is 5W40.
