Any idea how the sub woofer part is set up ? is there an amp located somewhere that can also be upgraded to aftermarket? and do you think it will be roomy enough to swap in a better 8 inch woofer?

I have a sub-woofer in my VT ??? Dang didn't even know about it...back to manual reading for that information...

But what I was able to do is bring the music forward rather than the middle of the car...Despite of my hearing impairment, I was able to hear better quality music. In the past, I normally play the same Jazz music over and over on my old car, and can now hear different notes of the sound...to me it's an improvement.

I think the better questions to ask are;

Is it possible to boost the existing sub-roofer ?
Do you have an option to test it out before replacing it in the similar environment ?
Try to check out the GenesisCoupe Forum as they are way bigger, these guys have seriously upgrade their sound systems, and I have seen them in the car meets - AMP and SUB - Genesis Forum: GenCoupe Hyundai Genesis Forums

I think the stereo is above average for stock. The only problem I have encountered is while streaming via blutooth. My right front tweeter starts to static out if the there is enough treble. But that isn't exactly the stereos fault, but the blutooth. (my last car didn't have the problem with the same phone, but the stereo system was definitely a step down)

It's a step up for me from my Versa. So far the sound quality is excellent. Maybe the speakers will sound even better after being broken in.

One thing I do wish it had was a 6 disc changer or something so I can still play my cd's.

No joke, mine does that too. It is annoying.

The bluetooth audio is not even worth playing for me, on the sony head unit on my frontier streaming bluetooth sounded as clear as plugging in my iphone. I prefer to plug in my iphone anyway as I like to charge it while I am driving so really no loss. The stereo system sounds great for a factory system. I honestly don't think I will be upgrading it anytime soon.

I was all lined up to buy a set of focal speakers and sub to swap out everything... But I don't think I am going to bother changing it for a while really, if ever, it is quite solid for a stock system.

Why CDS ? why not rip it and import it to your USB, and then plug it...

Does the radio have a volume override? I bought a car radio and it was too low for me as well till I got into the menu and found the defeat option and turned it off, almost blew my eardrums.

I must admit I'm a little disappointed. Very clear, but I can't crank Supertramp up enough.
Over all I'm happy with the stereo although it could be better. I know your disappointed when cranked up though. The system can be eq'd to sound great at low to mid volumes, but when cranked up the midrange dominates. Could be that there is no loudness compensation built in. I'm trying out some of the dynamic eq modes to see if that helps.
