So this past weekend I endeavoured on the FMIC install.
I'm not mechanically inclined, and prior to the VT, the most I've ever done on a car was put on a spare.

So from the beginning - Turbosocks is excellent for communications. Before I even committed to buying the kit, he was there to answer all my questions, inane as they were at times, and was very patient in explaining things. I found him to be very transparent with all aspects of the transaction as well.

Shipping was unbelievable. I figured I would be waiting 2-3 weeks for shipping to Canada or some such. I think it was 2 days.
There *was* an issue however, the manufacturer neglected to send me the actual Core. I informed Turbosocks, and literally within minutes, he got back to me saying that FedEx was en route to pick up the intercooler, and reship. Another 2 days passed, and I got my full kit. So less than a week, 2 shippings and I still got it faster than 3 of my other orders that I placed before I even ordered this. Color me impressed :)

Anyhow, being the nut I am, I reviewed the instructions several times prior, and there were parts that I was a little fuzzy on, cause I really don't know what I'm doing with cars. Again, Turbosocks was right there and answered my questions fully and clearly.

I got the install done in probably about 3 hours or so, and I stopped to put in my shifter bushings too.

Install was, a breeze. Everything fit like it should, and it wasn't difficult at all. I think Turbosocks might have even over shot his "difficulty rating" when he listed them.
This coming from a guy who doesn't know how to change his oil btw....

So a few notes...
The BOV...yeah, it's loud, and coooool. The little videos that Turbo posted...do NOT do it justice at all. My goodness does it sound amazing. Basically, the Eclipse in The Fast and the Furious (shut up, you know you all watched it too)...sounds pretty much like that. Pretty damn sweet, and if you enjoy that sound, you'll love this. Certainly more aggressive than the Forge.

Power. I was taken aback by how different the car feels. I knew there were dynos and "proof" and all that jazz, but to be honest that's all just numbers to me. I don't know what they mean haha.
But the car FEELS more powerful. I didn't think I would notice so much.

So yeah, if you have any questions, the install and everything is still very fresh in my mind, so feel free to ask.

I figured it might be neat to have a perspective on the install of a performance part, from someone who admittedly doesn't know anything about this stuff :)

Great review!

Turbosocks is very patient, down to earth, and transparent. Glad he is part of our community.

I can't wait to install this mod the most! Over exhaust(though this one comes close) , coilovers, rims, fmcai, and braces. I can't wait to install turbosocks fmic over most mods I have plans for.

Though, let me ask since this is still fresh in your mind. I do have a couple of questions. I know I can ask turbosocks and all but I know he gets loads of pm's daily lol

There is this part on the install instructions that I am confused on. on the instruction (#8) it says this:
8. Remove the lower splash guard that sits under the crash bar. There are 3-10mm bolts under the car to remove this. This portion will be scrapped. With the vice grips, snap off the THREE tabs that mounted the splash guard to the car. Snap off the remaining tab that is near the passenger side next to the splash guard tab. (sounds scary but it really isn't)

and shows pictures of someone gripping the tab with vice grips and another picture of it removed. Was this easy to do? or did you have to go up and down on those tabs until they got weak and broke off? Just curious.

This review is awesome because it wasn't from someone who is a ASE mechanic. It was from someone who doesn't work on cars at all. This is just proof that this mod is easy to install. Most bolt ons are easy anyways, but since this mod seems extreme considering it has to do with the turbo system itself and some modification, it is probably the easiest, most effective and noticeable mod to do.

Man brotha I can't wait :D

No more buying goodies though unless they are cheap enough. Not till I pay off all my debt I need to pay off to be healthy enough to get the vt.

Only reason I got what I have now was because of group buys and I was able to save a bunch.

First of all, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review like this! I really appreciate all of the points!

MyDiana, those tabs are really easy. No bending them up/down multiple times to break them free. One easy bend down on each and they snap off quite cleanly!

Lol, Turbo beat me to it...

Yeah I thought at first that you'd have to like super wiggle them to snap them off..
Just grip, and pull down and you'll hear a snap, I probably still have the tabs so i can show you how cleanly they break.

Finger Hand Nail Thumb Tool

As you can see, this is the back side of the clip. The part that connects to the car. It snaps off super clean and very easy.

At first you'll feel like you're putting a lot more pressure than you should, and you start wondering if you're snapping the right piece or not.
Then, amidst all your doubt, it snaps and you're like "oh".

Turbosocks, Intervalia. Thank you guys so much for the feedback. That was the only thing I was scratching my head about the instructions. But it sounds easy. thanks for the picture too.

Dude I appreciate your enthusiasm! Haha I've bought stuff that never got installed because I sold a vehicle, but never bought stuff ahead of time!
:D Yeah this is the first I have ever been preparing myself for a car. This is going to be my first NEW car. I want to do these mods regardless. ended up buying them now to save on group buys and clearance shelves while I can. I can't wait to get my hands on one. I am going to be in hog heaven when I do. just the thought of it gives me chills LOL I already have sweet littles gifts for it when it comes home lol :D

i don't even have mine yet but he has answered all of my questions very carefully and thoroughly

thats one thing that led me to buying his FMIC vs "the others"
I don't want to talk about "the others" just because it is still a great product. But, when I first saw turbosocks was doing a aftermarket fmic kit, I was thinking it was a crazy super performance mod that was unnecessary. keep in mind I have never owned a turbo car in the past and no nothing about turbos. I alwyas thought doing things like that were for the track. But after doing research on his product and after reading why his purpose was behind doing this, the simplicity of the install and how practical it all is, it is a no brainer. at 480 for the v1 and even 520 for v2, why the hell not do it. I seen fmic for thousands and required tons more work. This mod plus a tune and other bolt ons and this car will be an amazing car.
