Sooooo, my brand new Elite White VT M/T is coming in about a week or two and I have never driven a manual transmission before.
So my friend let me drive his Civic SI today and it was a pretty weird but good feeling.
He said the clutch was pretty "stiff" on his civic.
Anyone who has driven the two can give me a comparison?
Feels lighter/heavier?
Oh and for some reason the clutch felt super far.
If I had scooted my seat up further it would have been uncomfortable for my right foot/leg but my left leg had to kind of work to push it all the way down.
I only got a week or two before I have to learn this =X

What year Si? I had an 07 Si and the clutch and shifter in the VT feel very similar IMO. Clutch feels light to me and easy to modulate. Shifter is cable actuated in both cars and they also feel similar to me.

Wow.
I drove an 08 SI.
But his might have felt slightly different.
He already has a full cat back exhaust (supposedly one of the quietest for the SI) and had his ECU flashed which changed his throttle response time.

I only test drove the 2012 Si and GTI and yes the VT has a lighter clutch.

For top performance a stiffer clutch is better when you are doing race launches, hammering the gears and hitting top rpm every shift. Other than that a stiff clutch is useless to me.

When you are tooling around town a light clutch is much better for matching revs and keeping the chassis evenly loaded between gear changes. A good way to tell if you really have the hang of a M/T is to watch your passengers necks and see if the bob back and forth when you are going through the gears.
