Im not out, but I couldnt wait to drive the hot hatch, so I went to my mazda dealer and drove a Speed 3 today... It may be my second choice if things dont work out getting a VT..
I have to say, its very fast, even in 5th gear doing 60, it gets up and goes when you push the pedal down and handles really good for a heavy car.. and a sticker price just over 24k its a good buy.
It was really fun to drive, but compared to everything the VT offers, it would be a hard sell.. The VT looks a lot cooler.. The speed 3 looks too much like a 4door family car from the side,
but I do like the hood scoop, and it looks pretty mean coming at you.. Still, the VT may be more for me, not only the good looks, but the family would enjoy it more.. The speed 3 is an
enthusiasts car that may be a little rough around the edges for the whole family..

My current lease ends in 8/7, so I will wait until the very last day. Otherwise, I will be getting the V A/T Tech instead. After all it's only for 36 months, then I can get the VT. I love both of them.

VT is my first choice for sure but my goodness this is beyond ridiculous! I am getting angry with Hyundai at the poor system they have for tracking these cars. I just do not understand how in 2012 you can be so out of touch with where your inventory is. Argh! Or, do they really know and have decided to act like they don't know to stir up more demand of a seemingly unobtainable car.

i wanted a hatch so bad but was also conserned about space, i walked away with the 300 for $27,6XX, that includes extended warranty, gap covered, stain protection and low jack, tax, title loan yada yada yada, and ive never had any problem with newer dodge(chrysler, jeep, etc) plus i still get 31 mpg..................it was a win win win win

Fellas I've been in touch w/ a few people who work with Hyundai and a few dealerships...

Here's what I can gather from what they are doing with the release.

They haven't made a lot of VT's.. infact there are only 24 for the state of WA. So just put that into perspective... Second.. they are holding off on the release date until most of the country has them at the same time.. So the dealers can say... boom we have the VT's. This is supposed to happen 7-27-2012... Now keep in mind, delays, recalls and other things happen that can mess up with the timeline.

But thats the inside info I have..

All I have to say is keep convincing yourself you made the right choice.... When you see a Veloster turbo drive by and you cant take your eyes off of it, you will realize when you look back at your plain looking Chrysler, you made a big mistake.... Im curious to see your new car and all your fancy toys.. Please post pics!!

lol @ the impatience.. from what Hyundai has been saying since February (mid-summer) is still valid.. It technically is only nearing the middle of summer.. and they have already hit some dealers nationwide. I think there are 200+ on their way to dealers as we speak.

I'm glad you like your purchase (the 300) but eww in my opinion.. Good luck ever getting that mpg, unless you drive only on the highway.. 19mpg city, no thanks.. 400lb, no thanks.. auto, no thanks..

Before I got the option to buy mine, I was also super impatient. I kept looking at other cars, but none of them had everything I wanted.

Of course I could have gotten the cookie cutter GTI like tens of thousands of others on the road and not be able to do a single mod to set me apart.. All while getting less economy and having a meh interior..

Also thought about the MS3.. would be great if I wanted an ugly front and and almost the same mpg as my Jeep (my main reason for looking for a new car) At that point I would get a WRX.. WRX > MS3.

Also thought about a ST or a c30 even, but the value was just not there for the goodies you get in the VT.

I got mine two days ago (Seattle, Washington)! Korum Hyundai in Puyallup, WA really took great care of me and it was well worth the wait. I've been driving it every second that can, and have already put 300mi on it. The features are amazing and the fit and finish are even better than I expected. I've already had three people approach me about the car wanting to know more, and three others that wanted to race (I took one on and dusted him off --- GTI 2012). I couldn't be more pleased and it really is a head turner and fun to drive! It's not my style to post pics but I may download more if people want to see them. Only mod is the tint... otherwise Blue/Ultimate/MT.
