Ok.

So ... can someone please clarify this to me ...

I am not a big fan of paying for having a map on my VT, but wanted to give a try or at least, understand why is being offered to me. So far, I can't find or see any map on my VT. Do I have to enable something? What I'm losing if I do not renew after the 90 days trial?

I do like the satellite radio, but I believe that's a separate service, right?

Thanks in advance

unless your VT came with the nav and sunroof package you will not see a map, even with bluelink. bluelink "speaks" to you telling you what street to turn at in how many miles etc. in my opinion, google maps on your smartphone is alot better. hook it up with pandora and googlemaps, and you got turn by turn navi with map on ur phone!

That may explains. Mine does NOT have the moon-roof.

And I do agree, Google Maps on my cellphone is fantastic. How do I get turn by turn nav using the VT? I already pair my cellphone via Bluetooth.

So, just to confirm... satellite radio, bluetooth connectivity, have nothing to do with BlueLink, right? I do not mind the map stuff, but thinking seriously about getting satellite radio, and I think is handy to pair the cellphone, besides is SAFER than drive and talk (I own a bike, "hate" people who do that, lol)

...IMOabsolubtely nothing...for the price that you are paying the only worthwile thing I tried to use to make it worth the trial was weather and traffic and that wasn't even correct all the time. The restaurant ratings system was a joke cause it had like 3 restaurants even though my city has hundreds of places.the turn by turn navigation is basically an easier way to find an adress on the gps...but if you have the ultimate pckg then you will still be using the stock nav you are just downloading it from bluelink. The only cool thing was the feature that if your car got stolen you can have them stop your car remotely and report the location to the police but even that feature requires aproval by the police dept and whatnot so yeah 150 a month for that...not for me...

Do we have LoJack in our VTs or is it included with the BlueLink? I remember the sales guy mentioning that, not sure if he was confused or what.

So, how can I get or keep the satellite radio? Or, is it included with BlueLink as well?

The satellite radio is with Sirius XM a different company they will start calling you and sending you letters before your trial expires...they usually have good packages and discounts...a lot more economic than bluelink

Sat radio is a separate company with an associated cost. Bluetooth is a standard feature of the car and costs nothing to use.

We dont have Bluelink here in Canada at all and we get by just fine without it. It sounds like more of a pain then anything really useful.

I let my BlueLink expire several months ago. I can't tell much of a difference. I thought about renewing it but once I saw the price I didn't give it another thought.

Here is what you lose: the smartphone app doesn't work anymore - including remote start, I've got a MT and Android so that app was useless anyway, I don't need to set perimeters and the police aren't going to do anything with the location data anyway, the POI data is limited to the built-in database, the BlueLink POI data was nowhere as good as Google or Bing anyway, the NAV app lacks road detail arbitrarily when zoomed out - when you zoom in the detail is there, that sucks, if you have the fancy mirror you can't call BlueLink for assistance, I tried it once and it was useless, if you wreck your VT it won't notify authorities, but on 99% of roads either you or someone else can report your wreck, on the other 1% of roads BlueLink won't have cell coverage anyway, real-time traffic - this service isn't great but it is good and it is real handy to have on your NAV display.

Traffic is the only thing I miss. But I won't pay $279 for it.

I renewed the basic package for 3 years. Its basically just emergency notification and crash response and whatnot. Was under 200 for it. I don't need all the other crap that my phone does for me.

I renewed the Essentials/Assurance for remote start, tracking if stolen, etc...it was only $25 for another year...?? If its not $25 next year than its gone...but remote start here in AZ is a great feature when its 115 ° outside!

Since my bluelink expired recently I have been getting an annoying message everytime I start up the car.

it says something about not being registered but still active and click the button for help.
