Hey guys so once again I am in a predicament about wheels. I've posted on a few threads but i decided that making a thread of it's own might be the best way to put this out there. I have these two sets that I really really like. I originally would not look at any other sets except the LENSO CQ4 in the first picture, but getting them has proven to be nearly impossible. I then I came across the ones in the second pic the AXE EX CONCAVE and thought they weren't too bad but I am developing a liking to them more and more... so I photoshopped it to see how it would look and was really impressed. Now I am torn between being patient and sticking to what I know I want, or being spontaneous and going for something which I like more everyday..I am not trying to be a drag race car or a track car so I am not too worried about the effects on performance but still want to know that after I start working on moderate performance parts and possibly a tune it would not impact it negatively... SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? NUMBER 1? or number 2?

I absolutely love the right one. The AXE EX CONCAVE.

especially since the the others are 20". I would stay away from that. plus the rims do not look as good.

This guy has 18X9.5 +38. And he has a lot of poke.

Yours are going to poke out 3mm more than his.

So keep in mind if you are on springs you might have problems you can not fix. If you are on coilovers you can adjust them by raising your vt. if you are at stock height you shouldn't have any problems.

the rears do not have adjustments to camber in like the fronts do. so you can go lower on the front by adjusting the camber inward.

this is what a 225/35 looks on a 18x9.5

this is what a 215/35 looks on a 18x9.5
FS: (For Sale) White Enkei Rpf1's 18x9.5 +38 w/tires 5x100 - NASIOC

Have any decision on what size tires you want to go with or if you are going with coilovers, springs or just ride it with stock height?

I think I'd rather stay stock height..but about the camber do you mean like the front would face inward on the top? Cause I don't really like that...is this only if I was lowered?

if you're not lowering you can go with something more meatier like a 225/40. that'll give a more comfortable ride. or a 235/40 to better for that 9.5

I was only suggesting those because I thought you were going to lower it so it would have fit better.

So say I get these tomorrow.. they get here in maybe a week and a half shipped from Florida, What tires do I buy? cause it might be too much to get summer tires and in a few months have to buy winter tires again..that's the other part to the equation...what do you think?

how did you do it last winter?

most people have two sets of wheels. a summer setup and a winter setup.

if you drove around I'm the winter with your stock setup them I'd say do just that.

my favorite tire is the new michelin pilot sport a/s 3. those are a sport all season tire. it's half summer and half all season. get those and ride like that for the non winter season and when old man winter visits then put your stock wheels back on.

thanks for you help bro
You are welcome.

I've studied the VT and what all would work and wouldn't work.

I originally wanted these 18x10 +25.

but then I saw this

this is a 18X9.75 +20. so it is .25" thinner but 5mm more poke. SO about the same dimensions.
And that is WAY too much poke. with out custom body work, I would never be able to ride that with out any issues. And body work is like 3k to widen the fenders more. Because we can not camber in the rear wheels (inward on the top), body work would be the only option to fit a wide wheel PLUS a low offset (+20/+25 is way too much poke). the rear fenders would ride on the tires or wheels and eventually ruin them.

I wanted that deep dish 3.5" lip look. SO I will have to go with custom rims.

I then saw Socks and his 18X8.75 +33 and it looks like it fits better. WAY better lol almost no poke.

So I came up with 18x9 +36 (same dimensions) and I can hopefully achieve a 3"lip.
this is the wheels I want :D

of course this is probably like a 5 inch lip. but mine will be custom built to fit the VT and have a deep lip.

I like the pic you have in your op on the right. I love that concave look. I think no contest between the two. I was surprised to see people liking them on the left. I think 20" will be huge on a vt. ESPECIALLY with out lowering it. It will look like a 4X4 imho. it will make your car look like it has a lift kit.

yeah same color. velvet red. on a elite white vt.

man that blue vt has some real skinny tires. like 215/30 or 225/30. where did you find that pic? link? it does look good. wow. not 4x4 at all. fills the gap better.
