I was wondering how awesome it would be to have an option on style and finish options for the wheel insert locations on the VT. basically bolt on replacements for the chrome ones. Maybe colored or even a different curve and texture. Anyone know any companies that might be open to tossing around that idea.

I'd like that too. My dealer had a matte he storing on a lift so I took a look at them Looks like 2 phillps screws and they'll pop right off. I've got a black with blue, and I'd like to get those inserts done to match the trim.

I've been thinking of taking mine and scuffing the chrome to get a dull finish, they're a bit too flashy for me.

Follow up. I took off one tire and the inserts come out easily with 3 screws each. The center hub pops out after removing a retaining clip. A shop by me said he'll charge $400 for all 4 wheels. And don't bother removing the inserts; the money is in stripping the plastic chrome off, spraying a coat of plastic bonding primer, paint primer, paint, then clearcoat. I going with everything but the very center, so the logo stays chrome.

see if you can order another set of them offline and do it yourself. I've painted several plastic chrome things like emblems and the chrome is a thick layer and its very brittle when you pull it off, i dont see how they could 'strip it off' without ruining the peice, and getting a loose fit.

Just sand them real well, use a good cleaner then adhesion promoter, prime then paint, clearcoat, the wetsand them. they are soo small it would be very easy.

what color are you doing?.. and why would he strip them? if they are plastic I believe all you need is adhesion promoter.
He said he needs a good base to apply the adhesion promoter. Not sure if he's going to strip completely or just rough up the surface. I'm doing what he calls candy blue to match the trim. I've already powder coated the front plate holder and air caps. Tire Automotive tire Wheel Alloy wheel Vehicle

Just heard back from my dealer and the inserts are individually priced as follows in Canada.

Centers $13
Fins $17.52

Now considering that you need 20 fins and 4 centers, I think I will hold off on getting any stock ones.

I painted mine gloss black due to the fact that the chrome stips matched the silver paint background soon as they got a little road film on them

I'm going to be painting mine this week... as soon as the rest of the parts come in.

I'll be plastic-dipping the rims black, then spray the inserts Vitamin C to match the car. I got two cans of body matching spray paint to do the engine cover and the rims inserts.

I think I'll clean them up really well, then spray adhesion promoter, then paint 2 base coat and 2 top coat.

I'll post pictures once they're done.
