yeah, tint is measured by light transmittance (sp?). So 5% will let 5% of light through, where 35% will let 35% through. 5% is darker than 35%.

had mine in the tint shop the day after i bought it! 20% all around. will certainly get pulled over...always do. oh well.

btw, nice looking ride!

Looks really good and good information. I am getting mine done after my taxes are paid and was looking at 35%. Illinois has odd laws and the towns vary, so you never know if they are going to pull you over or ticket when parked.

I was at a convenience store/ gas station/ ice cream shop ( united dairy farmers) today to get a few things. I was paying for the goods, i looked out side and saw 3 people walking around and looking at my car. They were trying to look inside but the windows are pretty dark. I walked out and unlocked the doors and one of the guys asked what kind of car it was. i said Veloster turbo by hyundai. they were blown away that it was a Hyundai and loved it.
we all talked for a bit and I left. I looked in the rear view mirror as I was pulling out on to the raod and they were still staring. :cool2:
Its funny how many looks these cars get

Car looks good man. I just got mine done today too. i went 70% in front and 35% in rear. Here in California the cops are hard on the windows lol so i went really light to try to stay under the radar.

Who are you going with for tint? I called the guys at Quality Window Tints and got a quote for $200. Haven't done it yet, but seems like a decent price.

So the inconvenience of being, and eventually removing it to make it legal and ultimately re-doing it...this all combined with paying a summons..."oh well" I don't understand the pay off for looking cool.

Same guys although I was quoted $220.

As for the "cool look" for tinting, I an more interested in controling the interior temp more than cool look and will be getting a fairly light tint.

Got the tinting done at Quality Window Tinting earlier today. Went with 30% ceramic (about the same tint level as the 35% metallic) on the sides and back, and 20% on the large hatch window. The level I chose is legal here. Drove by cops from multiple towns and did not get a second glance. The ceramic was $100 more than the metallic but based on what I read, it blocks more IR and UV than the metallic at the same tint level; the appearance factor being a secondary consideration. Based on my experience with the install, so far, and my conversations with Greg Weiss, I highly recommend them when you need tinting.

Pics show tint level comparison with the windshield, then front and rear exterior views.

No. Either take it off, or pay. Not both.

Def worth it.
I got pulled over after 4 days when I had put 30% on my front windows...$25 fix it ticket, and $20 for a handheld steamer to get them off (no residue, works perfectly) and I'm not too upset.

My shop is putting a lighter tint on for free this weekend.

I had to research the tint laws here prior to getting this done because i had heard that tinting is illegal in Chicago and i have some clients in the city. My research showed that there is no standard to the laws here, so i know i am at risk of being on the receiving end of a "bad day" ticket for the level of tint. Oh, and it is illegal in Chicago.

I will deal with it if it happens...
