Like a dummy, I didn't take advantage of the extended Bluelink trial service when I bought my Veloster. With my service about to expire I called Hyundai support and asked about the renewal fee.

Roadside Service, Service Updates and GPS Navigation is $279.00 for ONE YEAR. :serious:

I almost shit my pants. I was thinking it would be like $100.00, but nearly $300.00 is, IMO, insane. No 6 month renewal but I can choose one, two or all three if I choose. Now, through my insurance I already have 24hr roadside service, and I have GPS navigation with my smartphone so the only thing I'd really need is the service updates. Thing is, the reason why I bought the complete package for my car was to have all of these services, it would be a waste of money overall to not have these feature enabled.

Does anyone here know of any way to renew without having to pay the full renewal fees? Any deals or offers heard of?

I was reviewing the bluelink "feature set" again and there seems to be some confusion. Road side assistance is in the $79 package if you need them to handle it for you. The GPS nav is part of the NAV system and is not the navigation Bluelink offers, they are not mutually inclusive. Get the traffic updates from SiriusXm for $5/month. The $179 package is all you should ever really need with the theft related features auto collision notifications inherited from the basic package. You have smartphone apps that give you gas prices and restaurant reviews.

With all of that said, I do think it is a bit over priced even considering the fact that you are paying for people to sit in a cubicle farm in case you need them.

I need to call Hyundai again and clarify exactly what is covered, but I was under the impression that what they were offering isn't worth $279.00. As long as I have navigation and system updates/alerts then I'm happy.

is this a year or half a year?
One year. I asked if they had a shorter plan like six months, was told No.

You don't need road side assistance if you have it with someone else already. If you have a smart phone e you don't gps, especially if you have the ultimate package with the navigation. I don't know what the basic plan is just to start your car fro. I your phone app, but my wife had that for her sonata and was awesome. You can lock, unlock and start your car from your phone. I would get have it on my vt if I was getting auto. No point on having that if you have stick because the feature that makes it worth it is the remote start.

If you think about it, a good remote start installed professionally of about 500-600. So let's say like 100 for basic package to start your car and all that's a better than forking out 600 all upfront. Again I'm not sure what's all the 179 includes but o don't think it was that much for just the remote start.

I can get a remote start installed for my VT for around $300. I use the Bluelink for remote start, but I'm very dissatisfied with it. It works everywhere but at work. And that is the place I want it to work the most! I have tried everything, but for some reason it will not work at my place of business.

I have a manual tranny so the remote start isn't an option, which sucks because that was the one feature I was really looking forward too. I'm thinking I'll be purchasing the subscriptions for the system updates and GPS, just no need for additional roadside assistance.

I have a VT M/T and an Android phone so BlueLink only does a handful of useful things for me anyway.

I don't let kids drive my car and I could care less if my VT is stolen because I have insurance. The likelihood that I'm going to crash my car and not be able to call for help or have anyone stop to assist me is extremely low - except in very remote areas where there aren't any cell towers for Bluelink to use anyway.

It seems rather arbitrary that a Bluelink subscription is required for voice navigation to work too. But you can just use your smartphone for that over Bluetooth anyway.

The only thing I miss is real time traffic on the SatNav - which is nice.

But when I looked at what it would cost to re-enable that feature it was $280 a year. Whatever.

It would be nice if Hyundai offered an a la carte pricing for Bluelink. Until then, I will not be buying Bluelink.

I called up to renew my 6 months for the assurance and whatever the other one is (not the nav since I already have nav, only 23 bucks). The lady on the other line told me to tell my insurance that I have the feature that helps the cops find your car if its stolen and theyd give you a discount. I figured wth, ill give it a try. Sure enough, I called my agent up (allstate) and they lowered my rate 4.25 a month. May want to mention that to your insurance companies?
