So I've figured out that the car my GF purchased has a Turbosocks SQV knockoff BOV kit installed. Having read some of the posts here about that valve and it's propensity to fail, I was wondering what to replace it with.
On one hand, I have the HKS style adaptor on the car so I could go with a genuine HKS BOV. She does like the Woosh sound a BOV makes.
On the other, I hear this talk of the Synapse DV BOV and my understanding is this is a BPV.
The price for a true HKS BOV is in the $250-$300 range and the cost on a Synapse DV seems to run up to $340 for an entire kit. Question is, it looks like I would either need to get a complete Synapse DV installation kit or the turbosocks Synapse DV to HKS adaptor to make this work on her car (assuming that the hood clearance is there with TWO adaptors and the BPV on there...).
What are my pros and cons with these options? I have seen a lot posted on the knock off BOVs and why not to use them but I couldn't find anything on comparing the genuine HKS SSQV verses the Synapse DV.
