What is this "clutch switch" that you guys refer to?

slide driver seat all the way back. wiggle your head under the steering wheel and look up at the clutch and look for that white clip (A). uplug that and feel the difference. you will lose the cruise control and the gear indicator. now if you like the way the car acts without it plugged you can either leave it unplugged (like what i did) or buy a switch and mod the wires to the switch so in the future you dont have to go under to unplug it or plug it back in. you can just click the switch.

Disconnected the switch yesterday and wow, so much better now. It makes taking off from a stop easier, it accelerates faster & smoother, it shifts quicker, and the sounds from the exhaust when off the accelerator are phenomenal. After having installed 65A motor mount bushings, the car used to vibrate when taking off, but now it doesn't. It also seems to idle smoother too.

VT clutch switch mod gurus,

I have the clutch switch mod done almost 6 mos or more now, but I am having misfire issue through out this period, and my coils are burning out. I don't think the mod has anything to do with it, but I was told that the clutch switch mod is the cause of the coils burn out? I want to see if some one can clear the air of the myth. Maybe an expert can shine some light on this issue.

No it wasn't the dealer that told me that. It was just some other member trying to help with my misfiring issue and he said that it was all over the forums about it. So I being not an expert at the mods and I was hoping that some Guru here can dispute the myth about the switch mod is blowing up my ignition coils.

Honhon,

I have a switch that I can turn it on/off at will. So I can run with the clutch switch back on for awhile and see if the misfire stop all together or just a myth. Or some one is talking without proof.

Honhon,

I have the torque app. Try data logging can't see anything that will point to the issue. But for now I think my main issue of hesitation and misfire is gone after the ignition coils are replaced.

Back to the main topic, the clutch switch will be switch back on, so we will see if that will help with the blown coils issue.

Personally I just think that Hyundai put out some cheap coils and call it a day.

I've been forgetting to do this mod for so long. Set a calendar reminder to do it tomorrow to see if I like it. I'm excited to see how it's gonna sound feel with the exhaust mods and such. I consider my self a manual amature. I've only been driving one (that wasn't a busted rowboat of a jeep) for about 6 years.

I just did this. It was worth it.

I am going to recommend that you not un-plug the upper clutch switch. We have started to see a common problem with broken spark plugs and the upper clutch switch being unplugged.

Thanks,

John
So John says disconnecting this switch may be harmful for the engine. Has anybody experienced this?
