Does anybody know what is the material they used for the leather seats?

I am thinking to dye the grey strips (blue in US) on the sides of the front seats to orange.
Just wonder if any of you have thoughts like me...?!
I have heard that Hyundai uses leather/leatherette... but not sure...
I need to find out the exact material before choosing which type of dye to do the job.

Anybody got some tips?

Thanks all!

The leather on the VT seats is definitely "guy" leather - that is too say hard, durable and cheap.

The gray strips on my seats are definitely not leather - but I'm OK with that. The bolsters on sport seats are always the first to fail on cloth and leather seats because of all of the friction. Near as I can tell the grey strips of material on my seat bolsters is some sort of slick and durable vinyl.

The jury is still out on the "leather" material on the doors.

Hyundai says it is leather, and I don't think they would falsify that. And it does feel and smell like leather.

Those gray bolsters don't even pretend to be leather, they are clearly some sort of slick synthetic material. It doesn't take long to figure that out once you own a VT.

Don't get me wrong. I'm impressed that Hyundai took the time to engineer the VT seats to use a slick and durable material for that panel on the bolster. I've owned a lot of cars with lower seat bolsters and that is always the first thing that wears out on sport seats.

You could probably take the seats apart and expose some of that material to test your dye on.

The front seats are Recaros and they have leather cushions, squabs and bolsters (except for the synthetic grey stripe), with vinyl leather look-alike (leatherette) on the headrests, sides, bases and rears. Back seat the same: leather cushion and squab and vinyl the rest. It's decent qualilty imitation leather and hard to pick from the real leather.
