Engine stalls out when turning on the head lights sometimes

Hey guys I was hoping I could get a diagnostic. So the problem I'm having is that sometimes when I'm turning on the headlights with the engine on, the moment I turn it on the rev's drop and engine stalls out. This has been going on for the past 2 weeks and I'm not sure if it has to do with the cold or not... any idea?

I googled and it seems that some ppl also have this issue in other cars which has to do with the alternator or grounding. Thoughts?

Grounding would be my first check.

This assumes your battery is good. The alternator provides most of your power once the car is started and then shares the load with the battery. While most of the power comes from the alternator the battery helps out under transition loads until the alternator catches up. If the battery is going bad, your regulator is going bad, or the alternator is going bad they will many times have the same symptoms.

Start the car. Once everything stabilizes, while the car is running remove the negative lead of battery. The car should keep running. If it bogs or cuts off you have a bad alternator/regulator. If everything seems good there stop by the dealership and have them test your battery. Hyundai has put out some bad batteries and has had a few campaigns to replace these batteries, even if out of warranty. You can have autozone or advance auto do the same but you won't get a free battery from them.
