I know people have already stated how this mod is a solid improvement ect... so I figure I would give a little bit more info.

First.. its very simple to remove/replace. Like others stated, it should take you longer to jack up the car.. then actually remove/replace the part.

For those getting stuck not being able to remove the cap on the clamp.. Just use needle nose pliers to grab/wiggle it off, or wedge a small Flathead Screwdriver under the cap and pop it off. Either will work.

Its still unknown as to WHY they would add this part. But the fact of the matter is, by replacing it.. you gain top end and over all drive-ability.

Gains come on around 3500+ RPMS.
It drastically reduces the "flat spot" during WOT which you may feel around 4000 - 5500 RPMs.
I also noticed, how SMOOTH boost comes on now.

With the 6MT version of the car. Shifting from 1st to 2nd feels much better. Less hesitation and when you punch it.. it goes.
I'm assuming it must reduce turbo spool, to some degree. Looking into the baffle, there are square edges & hollow chambers... NONE of that can be good for compressed air to be whipping past.
Also, like others have stated. The friction caused by the baffle would ALSO add to heat in the system = no good.

Here is a look inside the stock baffle :

Below is a pic of the pipe installed AFTER the fact :

I just left the cap off the clamp. So if I ever need to replace it with the stock baffle, I can avoid dick1ng around with the cap ;)
As for the spring clamp on the other side. Just use a pair of Channel lock pliers.. easy!

Finally, you should see a boost in MPG per tank... I'm seeing about 2+

TorkMe sells a nice Stainless pipe which you can get from this thread : http://www.velosterturbo.org/forum/tork-motorsports/4142-you-want-power-upgrade-under-30-00-a.html

OR another option is an Aluminum version ( which I installed ) here : Cxracing 2" OD Straight Aluminum Joiner Pipe for Intecooler Turbo 5" Long | eBay

Price per HP! This one is a MUST. In fact, after sending back my canned tune. Then installing this.. I don't miss the canned tune AT ALL :)

It's gonna get hot. But remember the hoses are rubber. So if they don't melt or deform how hot could it be?

Agreed in full.

PVC would not be a good idea on hot piping because the outlet temps of the turbo. However, if you ever needed a quick fix on cold piping, PVC would work.

PVC can start to lose its integrity much sooner than rubber. Turbo outlet temps can be WELL above that, even in 300F+. PVC will keep its integrety until around 250 degrees or a bit more. However, with heat soak, being so close to the turbo, the fact that outlet temps can exceed the temps that PVC is happy with, VERY BAD IDEA on hot piping.

The melting point of rubber is MUCH higher than PVC in the 700+F range, which the turbo outlet will never see, even under extreme conditions.

Everything said, I am using aluminum on my resonator delete.

You COULD, but then you may be sitting there for a week like I was.. wondering WTF is going on .... before finally giving up and getting the ebay one for HALF the price and 2 days later.

He wants 28.50 now for his, the Ebay one is 14.50... no brainer

You do have a valid point with the cost difference. I forgave the week abscence once i understood the situation.

Either way you go you will be happy with the result. The TorkMe week vacation thing made some people a little worried but everyone made a mountain out of a mole hill about it. Support VT community or buy stuff from ebay it doesnt really matter, just get one and you wont regret it.

So I finally had a real test run today during out meet up and this thing is beast when powering around corners and shooting short runs up/down the mountain. Keep the car at ~3k rpm and you'll have all the power at your...toes... definitely the best bang for the buck on any upgrade.

So I've been doing some looking at the Boost readings on the Turque App since i installed this pipe. Before i could hit 22-23 psi boost and now I can barely hit 19 psi WOT through the floor. That said, acceleration is much better and faster and smoother. Maybe my peak psi was due to the restriction the IC resonator caused and now it's smoother out perhaps? Definitely no complaints performance-wise, just something notable during research.

So its been a bit since now having the tube installed! Tell you what... Today I accelerated quick a couple times.. And noticed my car kept dropping revs.. Then I realized that it was traction control kicking in, so I turned it off. 1st let go completely after 4.5k RPM. When I shifted to 2nd, It didn't chirp. It ripped both tires around completely. After I tried a couple 2nd gear pulls full throttle.. And it kept getting loose around 5.5k... Things a beast now!!

Gotta love the traction control. 90% of the time when the car is surging (not pulling smoothly) in 2nd I turn off the traction control and it quits. What tires are you running? I am curious because I might do intake and exhaust and such and I was curious if my Pilot Super Sports will stay stuck to the ground in 2nd or not, in a straight line of course.

I really want to buy these but will need help on install is there like pictures

if your at all handy with tools , this is the easiest mod to do
including jacking the car up in the driveway, it took 20 mins

there is some pictures in the original post from torx , so , so , easy to do

#69 ·
Also read the first post in this thread. I have a pic of it installed under the car.. and a couple little tips you may want to know :p

#70 ·
Ok, I bought the one on E-Bay.

The only thing I would suggest is to clean up the edges of the tube.

Because of the way the tube is cut there are very ragged edges.

To me it looked like there is a possibility that small chips could become
dislodged and proceed into the system and cause problems.

I took a file and smoothed the edges to avoid any potential problem.

It sits almost ON the turbo. Lots of pressure in that there spot!

Just bought mine off eBay. Thinking of gutting the stock DP while I'm down there. Wish I wouldnt get a cel from it though. I'm bome stock and this will be my first performance mod. Soon I'll have a ram/cold(haven't decided yet) air on it too. Gotta mod this car piece by piece. Any one care to take a guess to the gains(hp and tqe) if it delete the resonator, gut the stock dp and put on a ram/cold air intake?

I'm talking about what op is about. The one coming out of the turbo. I came from the NA V. And I just love the fact that I can get good gains for little to nothing. If I had put a cold air and an exhaust on my old NA V that would almost be $1000 in mods and maybe 15-20 hp. I'm about to drop $200 and I'm going to get more than that.

Btw what is the fouler mod???
