I know there are instructions for it somewhere but can't remember where. This is the best I could find. It's for a Forte, but they're using the VT STS and the install should be the same:
I just removed all the console items around the base and pulled it out from there ( 4 bolts ) Make sure you use those shifter base bushing washers! ( or get some, some kits do not provide them )
Get the reverse lock out off of which shifter? For both it all comes off the top. Remove the shifter knob by unscrewing it. Remove the spring and then everything should come out the top. But I'm not sure why you need to remove this unless you're after the shifter boot from the OEM shifter.
I have the Billet Pro Shop shifter and I had to remove an allen screw and the shifter knob and then pull everything off the top. I transferred my stock boot to the new shifter by following a similar concept of removing everything from the top. It wasn't super simple, but it wasn't difficult to do either.
There's instructions for the Veloster at Billet's site. They're all pretty much the same as far as removal and installation.
For what shifter? I told you in my original post that I have the rspec short throw... I need to remove this to install the shifter base bushings. I remove the knob and undo the console but the reverse lock up is attached to shifter... that is what I am trying to remove...
True just makes it kind of tight... and the instructions don't really cover removing the lockout... make it seem like you just pull the knob and it all comes right off... did a lot of cussing... will take another look this week....
If you pull up on the trim ring around the shifter boot it will come free from the center console, then you can turn it up on its side and then it will allow you to remove the center console.
